    ALBA 42" Stuck in standby

    Hi all
a friend asked me to look at his tv as it had made a screech noise(as he put it) and then wouldn't come out of standby.

Opened up the unit expecting swollen caps but can see none ,i know that means nothing but there is a right mixture of Chang ,Samxon ,HEC and Fujicon .

Have tested bridge rectifier its ok ,fuses ok .
The only thing so far that jumps out at me is a diode that reads both ways but only in circuit pulled and tested off board it only reads one way as it should.

Not sure where to go with it now any help would be welcome

Pic 4 is the diode in question

Re: ALBA 42" Stuck in standby

I recently repaired a BAIRD TV with a very similar design and that was dry joints in the PSU caused by shitty lead free solder. Many of the joints on the BAIRD looked perfect, but bubbled up when I re-flowed them and looked pretty nasty afterwards, so I removed all the solder and re-flowed with tin/lead mix.

I'd start checking voltages with a DMM now.

Re: ALBA 42" Stuck in standby

It appears the outputs of the power supply are labeled; the pictures are so poor I can't be sure. In my experience, checking for proper output voltages is much easier than checking components.

Apologies Bill hard to get decent light for good pictures bit grey and wet here .

Have done another pic as you can see there are no markings for expected voltages .

Black connector goes to the inverter panel so i would expect to see
        12v/24v for supply ,ground and 3v/5v on/off

White connector goes to the main board so possibly find 3v/5v and maybe
        12v to.

The three connectors circled in red are not used .

I have reflowed all components on the board and will try to get some readings and report back later

Re: ALBA 42" Stuck in standby

I have since tried another power board on this and still no joy think this may be a problem with the sensor touch switch .

Firstly let me apologise for the poor quality of the pics the batteries are nearly out

Pic 1 is the touch switch end and pic 2 is the main board end

The three wires run between these 2 points and each wire have continuity
            red carries 3.8v blue 3.8v yellow 0v ,

Now i am assuming much like a monitor 1 line power constant and the switch allows the current to return to the main board to start up ?

That is not happening here i think the blue wire is for the infa red and the red wire is the manual control or vice versa , i am just wondering if i were to allow power back down the yellow line would it start up the tv ?

I think those green electrolytics are Samxon GF, a known bad unit.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Yeah, good point they do look like Samxon - and if they are I'd replace them before trying to do anything further.

                Horrible, horrible caps.

I fitted a new power board and still the same so not the caps on the power board or do you mean the ones on the main board

                    Hello

I have an TV Led 4K Selecline 65s18 with mainboard T.MS3458.U801

The TV is faulty with stuck in Standby RED LED. Can't power the TV.

Before this problem , the TV stuck the picture with artefact , i unplug the AC cable and since the tv is stuck in standby .

All voltage are OK on PSU and main board for regulator. I tried flash firmware 25Q64 with many dumps

But the voltage on power button is 0.6V not 3.3V. When i press power button the voltage up to 0V. I tried to add 5V with Power Supply on 5V_STB and 3.3V on Power...

I enclose the psu diagram, after the first routine checks I find myself with a regular standby voltage of 3.3v blue light on steady when the power button is pressed nothing happens, psu disassembled and bench checked ... forced ignition by sending a signal 3 , 3v on the SW and PWM2 pins the psu turns on and delivers all the voltages...

LG 32LB1R - stuck in standby mode
                    by lego1234567
Hi. I have the following problem with my TV. After connecting to mains, the standby led (red) turns on, but TV is not responding to remote control or buttons on TV. After some measurements, I found out that +5 V standby voltage is present, but I dont have ON/OFF signal coming in to turn PSU on. It stays at zero volts. After looking at the schematic of the mainboard, I should get ON/OFF signal coming in at the R1402 resistor, but it stays around +3,5 V. So I removed it and I was able to turn on TV with buttons on TV, but not with remote control.

What could be the problem ? Thanks...

Hi techs, I have a Samsung ua39eh5003r which switches on and then goes to standby. I have to wait for a day or two for the tv to switch on again, all the time it is stuck on standby. I have checked the voltages on the power supply board on both occasions when it is on and off and these are my findings:

                    Connector CNM803:
                    TV ON

                    TV OFF
                    Pin1,3,4,5(Vamp),7(Vamp)- 12.6V; Pin2(PWM_DIM)- 0.06v; Pin6(BLU_ON/OFF)-...

When the Main board is disconnected, the back lights are off but tapping on the chassis makes them light up and all voltages are then good. Connecting the main board up makes the TV work normally until moved. LED INERFACE STRIP BN41-01971A has a short on the first 2 pins on the left of the picture, the cable tests good. All the other pins and all LED strips test good. Is there an easy way to fix the short or do I need a new interface. Any help would welcome.
