    19" polaroid tla-01911c

TV does not turn on. So I opened it and it looks like 2 of the caps are bad. But I was wondering if I should also replace the others? Also the one cap that is bad is a Procon 10v680 uf EY 8mm x 16mm. Can I replace this cap with the Rubycon 680uF 16v Ultra Low ESR Electrolytic Capacitor? The only reason I ask is because the voltage is different.

    bad cap info

    HEC 1500 uf 10v 10mm x 16mm
    Procon 10v680uf EY 8mm x 16mm

    Thanks,

    Yes, replace the others.

Capacitors die from age, heat, and shoddy build quality. Capacitors DO NOT have to be visibly bloated in order to bad. They can be out of tolerance uF (a 1000uF measures 20uF) and/or have high ESR (ohm). A multimeter will be insufficient to test for ESR. For that you need an ESR tester which costs between $50 and $300.

Most members here will recommend that you replace ALL capacitors with reputable brands from reputable sellers. Brands like Rubycon, Panasonic, and United Chemicon are suggested. A list of recommended caps can be found at

Yes, you can go up in voltage.

And, they can look physically good, still read properly on ESR, AND capacitance. like a good cap, as this test equipment use very low voltages

BUT still be bad!! dont ask me how i know this. hehe.

put a higher voltage, or a mega-ohm meter to them, they can leak DC current that your ordinary meters wont see... and be bad.
