I have a 40" Sony Bravia LCD KDL-40S4100. When I turn the TV on it works for a 2 second period and then shots of by it self,a red stanby light flashes twise,anyone here knows what could be a problem with it????? thanx

What works exactly? Do you get picture with brightness or a blank black screen? Do you get sound? Do you get sound but no picture?

It could be the inverter transformers. See

If you don't have a ringer tester, there are other ways of testing the transformers.

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)
I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. Have Sony KD-49XE9005 that has been working fine for some time now. switched on this AM and after a few seconds screen blank and red LED flashing 4 times. Tried resets and all responding as expected expected and after booting up, after few seconds of displaying normal broadcast picture, screen goes blank red led flashes 4 times in sequence.
Anyone have schematics/service manual for this series. have checked the obvious items and caps test OK, voltages etc appear correct onwards.

Hello, my Aunt recently gave me her broken Sony XBR-65A8G OLED after getting a replacement. It had a 4x led flash error, a replacement T-con didn't fix the error but with helpful info from this forum I found one of the smd ceramic caps on the panel pcb (C575/C378) on a 24v line was shorted to ground. I removed that cap and the tv turned on without error. It still had a black screen with the original t-con back in it, once I put the replacement t-con in it finally had a picture. After doing a panel refresh it had a very good picture but with a few vertical lines for some scenes. For owners with... -
A) TV initially dead
B) On a hunch of a locked up Google OS, plugged in a USB memory stick with latest FW and plugged it in. It booted into the update screen, completed the update and restarted to Home screen.
C) Was able to perform a Reset from Settings menu and completed out of box configuration.
D) Ran a 4K screen saver demo for about 6 hours, then turned it off for the day. Did not notice any stripes, dead zones or other artifacts in the image.
