    Vizio GV42L LCD TV

I recently purchased the Vizio GV42L used. Two problems that it has are:

    Problem #1
When plugged in, it goes into standby - ok there
When power button pushed - LED (behind Vizio name) goes from orange to white - no screen
When power button pressed again - back to standby
When power button pressed again - Now picture on OK.

    Problem#2
After scanning for channels, the tuner will find all digital channels in my area but will only show a black picture when it's on these chanels.

Visually, all of the boards are OK.
Anybody ever ran into this one???

I forgot to add that the tuner will show analog channels (from a coax cable source) but just will not process the video of the digital channels. The source is confirmed to have both digital and analog. I use this source to check other LCD TV's.

I've seen something very similar with a shorted input board or coaxial connector. Have you tried feeding digital in from another source? RCA/HDMI/etc ... I had a bad connection on the input board that actually fried the demodulator (well, its what I call it) board from shorting. Could be, but I'm just stating what I have seen.

After looking into this more, I found that the tuner board isnt functioning properly. I dont have the right equipment to be able to go to component level on this one. I searched for a replacement board and found one for about $120. Maybe I'll just use it as a large monitor, It has a VGA input.

Hey DGTECH, I have a GV42L Vizio that I was about to sale and then I discover that the scanning for channels on the cable input does scan analog signal but wont scan for digital signals. I think the process isn't being completed for some programming reason. if I cancel the scan and enter a channel number I get a clear picture of that channel. So I think the tuner is ok.

I think the problem is with the flash memory.

I search the Internet and couldn't find any useful information.

What did you find or concluded on this problem?

Anybody with any information on this problem can input on this issue

            thanks

              Re: Vizio GV42L LCD TV

This one I had to sell quickly to another tech. I had gotten a job out of state and had to move. I didn't want it to get damaged in the move.
