Re: LCD Not Working
If "you" means Topcat (the owner of this site), you may want to send him a private message with what you are asking since he likely doesn't read every thread. He would probably be interested in why the electronic checkout isn't working as well (which links you are clicking on). Good luck with the repair!

Re: LCD Not Working
Let me count the ways.
1) Just last week, someone posted 12 MB worth of inline pictures in post #1. With 20 posts per page, it means everytime I come back to read, I have to load 12MB each and every time. 20 posts * 12 means I waste 240MB just loading the page.
Some ISPs have monthly usage caps and charge extra for usage.
2) Offsite picture hosting may not exist in the future. User accounts come and go. Or what used to be a free hosting site and then converted to a premium site and the pics no longer load.
3) Right now, I'm using a 9 inch diagonal netbooks and the scrolling back and forth make it impossible to read.
4) The 9 inch netbook has a very slow "write" solid state disk (SSD). When I download 12MB of pictures, the browser writes 12MB to the cache located on the SSD and it is very slow. It also means 12MB of cached data is possibly deleted in order to make room for a picture that I may not need to see again.Leave a comment:

Re: LCD Not Working
What's wrong with inline pictures? With the new auto resizer that Topcat put in, they resize themselves and fit my screen just fine. I don't have to do any horizontal scrolling. It is easier for them just to appear fit to size automatically thanks to the auto resizer that Topcat put in than to have to open a bunch of attachments that don't resize themselves.
Are you using IE? I think that last time I used IE, the auto-resizer didn't work and inline pictures loaded full size. Now THAT was a pain in the ass. In Firefox and Opera, the auto resizer works.Leave a comment:

Re: LCD Not Working
If "here" means Radioshack or some local electronics store, I would suggest you do not proceed. Radioshack does not stock low ESR capacitors. The same goes for most general electronic stores. SMPS power supplies require low ESR capacitors to function properly.
However, should you live in a big city or am lucky to have a local store that carries caps in the list I posted earlier, then go for it.
Rubycon MCZ, Panasonic FM and FC series are favourites among members here.Last edited by retiredcaps; 11-30-2010, 01:46 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: LCD Not Working
Nope, still inline.
But looking at the picture online is when I seen them bulged at the end!
So to replace the caps, should I do all the little ceramic ones too?
Caps can also fail without the obvious physical defects. They can be out of uF tolerance (a 1000uF cap may only measure 25uF) or have high ESR (ohms).
Caps can be purchased here at badcaps.net to help support this site or they can be purchased at the big distributors like digikey or mouser. Badcaps sells Rubycon and Samxon. Digikey and mouser carry Panasonic and United Chemicon.
Make sure to get the correct physical dimensions correct.Leave a comment:

Re: LCD Not Working
OK I think I fixed the "inline image" problem. Sorry about that.
This is great. I was looking for a bulge along the length of the caps. But looking at the picture online is when I seen them bulged at the end! You learn something everyday!
So to replace the caps, should I do all the little ceramic ones too?
BTW thanks man.

Re: LCD Not Working
Second, umm, you have 7 obviously bad caps in the lower right hand section of the power board. Since you have 7 bad caps, many here will recommend that you replace the ALL. All means all.
Use quality low ESR caps from this list ...

LCD Not Working
OK guys. I picked up a SOYO MT-SYTPT3227AB LCD DOA. I'm not a tech. But I do build cirucuit boards from plans and so forth. I have a multimeter!
So maybe I can get this thing working with some help of course. All it wil do when plugged in is show the red led.
I pulled it all apart to look and see what I could find. The "main" fuse "F1" is working. I think that would be a good sign.
Here are a couple of pics of the power supply.
So what do you thinK ??? There is one spot that looks like it got hot. Dont see any bulging Caps!

Any help will be great. Thanks

Never ever i experienced problems with that.
Now i have one 5050sff machine, where this jumper isnt working at all.
I do not get the normal messge that the jumper is set when booting and a short test with FPT just confirms this. Everything is locked -->> EVEN for reading !?

by DynaxSCHi,
I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.
However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA... -
