At this point, this is not the best option, since mosfets and diodes have not been tested, it is better to use a 100W incandescent lamp instead of a fuse for testing; if the power supply works, then install a regular 5A fuse.

So the first thing I should do now is replace that fuse and see what happens? All I have on hand is the one I tested that was the correct fuse but also showed 1.000, and a couple 7.5A 250v. Would it not be a good idea to replace a 5A with a 7.5A?

Yep. The one with the red stripe. Question though, do 125v and 250v fuses have to be checked differently? I checked another suspected good 250v fuse and it also read 1.000, but when I checked a 125v it tested good. Meter is set to AC and Ohms (the only seeing I have).

I checked it and I get 1.000 both ways. My meter only has one ohms setting so that's what I used. The other fuse read good.

I will recheck this later. Thanks.

When I set it to Ohms it bounced around all over the place. DigiKey's website recommends checking voltage for a fuse that's in-circuit. A working fuse should show 0v.

Is .28v an indicator that the fuse is bad? Or is that close enough to 0 that it's good?

Fuses are checked for resistance with a multimeter; a working fuse should show a short circuit!

I checked the fuse. It's showing .28v with the power on. The other fuse on the board stays at 0v.

😆 I haven't needed to use it until recently. Last time I used it was just before my basement flooded, so I think it was misplaced after the cleanup. I have an idea now where it may be though.

Unfortunately I can't find my multimeter to test anything

What is more likey to be bad? The fuse, or the transistors? Or maybe all of them? I have some donor boards that may have the right transistors.

    It's being used as insulation.

I'll check that tonight. That would be great if that was the issue! So the fuse is further in the circuit than the cap that shorted?

No I haven't. They don't appear burned or anything, but they are the white ones, not glass, so the inside may be a different story. I imagine they are ok because the bad cap was still sparking before I replaced it. If the fuses were blown the power wouldn't make it over to that cap, right? Btw there are two fuses on this board.

These resistors are wirewound, low resistance 0.15 Ohm 1%.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

    by Hakuu
    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

    More Details

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
    CN6401
    Pin 01 NC
    Pin 02 NC
    Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
    Pin 04 "N/C"
    Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
    Pin 06 "GND": N/C
    Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...
