LG Plasma (MU-42PM11) Weird colors after repair

I just got an LG MU-42PM11 as-is from ebay for $46. The original problem was that it wouldn't power on, which was fixed by installing a new fuse into the Ysus board. The TV powers on, but the pixels are slow to fire, and colors are very bad.

I already measured the voltage off of the VS and VA pins and it matches the voltage on the panel. I'm going to measure VSETUP and VSETDN, but I don't think they're the problem.

I'm attaching a video & a picture, I want to know if I need a new Y-sus board or if the panel is bad. The TV will not show dark colors, and light colors will blend together. The TV is 5 years old, after all.

Also, I need a way to check panel hours, the service menu (code 8741) doesn't tell me anything about the panel.

    Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bytRzUo6dJI

For $46, you could have gotten better wall art. Thats all this thing is worth at this point. If this were an LCD, it would be worth fixing.

By the way, I've seen people purposely blow a fuse to make it seem like an easy fix and once you get the fuse corrected, you see the real (more serious) problem.

I personally, only deal with LCD's. Plasma's are harder to fix and cheaper to replace. Not worth it.

At this point I'm not concerned with cost or what the TV is worth, I just want to see if I can fix it.

I'll take a look at the stuff under that heatsink. Also, the big red cap C83 or C84 has a bump in it, I can't find a replacement (250 685K).

Mal-charge of plasma either points to the YSUS or ZSUS.

          Cheers, Wizard

Just an update, a new ZSUS fixed it. The service manual reports that the panel has 41 hours on it. That doesn't seem right, is it possible that somebody reset it?

Highly likely, but not impossible. I had a 4 year old plasma set recently that had about 1000 hours on it. It failed just out of warranty and had beek sitting in a closet for about 3 years.

And if you read the ads on Craigslist it is amazing the number of 5 year old TVs that are being sold as 'Like now, in box'.

(Weird) BIOS info for HP Pavilion Aero 13-be1021AU
                by Loki_Fido
                Hi folks,

This HP Pavilion Aero 13-be1021AU came to me for a repair. And it seems to have a weird BIOS chip. (Pic attached)
I asked my CH341A to read it and doesn't even know what to do with this. We are both very confused.

                BIOS - XMC 25RU128CH10 (1.8v)

What the heck is this? I looked all over the MB. This is the only bios.
When I asked the NeoProgrammer to detect it, it just pops up an empty screen, and asked me to enter the bios number. And when I did, it doesn't do anything. NeoProgrammer showed me just this SPI ID: 204418. Don't know what...

Philips 70PUS7855/12 bad colors when applying the tape fix on teh T-con board
                by silikon77
                Hi!
Got an 70 inch Philips tv model 70pus7855/12 from scraps and I decidet to give it a go. I'm an enthusiast but no porfessional in the electronics.
Found some advices watching youtube nad came up with this:
It came with no picture, after diagnosing it I found out that the right side of the T.con board was faulty.
I taped down the clock signals and I got a picture but the left side of the panel has less pronounced colours. Only the right 3rd side of the panel has good colors.
                See attached picture.

I tried a few combinations to block individual clock...

Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS

                Greetings all!

Originally this set had the usual messed up video symptoms such as: horizontal lines, weak, grainy video, bottom and top of picture differ in intensity of problem. It also seemed to slow to turn on or show the messed up picture.

Seemed like must be YScan/buffer board failure. Ordered buffer boards from my distributor which were supposed to be original/new and also from another distributor, I ordered the YSUS because I wanted to replace it for preventative maintenance. (also, the YSUS had a bulged cap, so there was even more reason to suspect it could...

plasma TV Lg 42w451 - why is the zsus igbts damaged when the ysus is plugged?
                by Salvatore057
                Hi all,
I am trying to fix my plasma TV which is not powering on due to damaged IGBTs. I have changed two igbts and 2 IC drivers on the zsus and also two igbts on the ysus.
Now everytime I plugged the ZSUS and the YSUS boards to the power board, the two 30f124 IGBT on the ZSUS are damaged and the TV stays in standby mode. When I plug the ZSUS board alone the TV turns ON but I do not see pictures. When I plug the ZSUS board without the two 30f124 IGBTs and the YSUS board, the TV powers on with a picture.
I am lost, should I change the YSUS board? Is the YSUS board damaging...
