(Weird) BIOS info for HP Pavilion Aero 13-be1021AU

Hi folks,

This HP Pavilion Aero 13-be1021AU came to me for a repair. And it seems to have a weird BIOS chip. (Pic attached)
I asked my CH341A to read it and doesn't even know what to do with this. We are both very confused.

BIOS - XMC 25RU128CH10 (1.8v)

What the heck is this? I looked all over the MB. This is the only bios.
When I asked the NeoProgrammer to detect it, it just pops up an empty screen, and asked me to enter the bios number. And when I did, it doesn't do anything. NeoProgrammer showed me just this SPI ID: 204418. Don't know what it means.
I even googled it. No results.

Weird, right?
Is there a way to detect and read this chip? Anyone knows?

Any help is appreciated.

program it manually... try a similar chip from the database...

Hi peste,

Its not even getting detected. Then how to programming manually?

I googled the chip. No results. There's nothing about this bios in the internet.

I tried Neoprogrammer. AsProgrammer, XgPro and nothing.

HP threw a curve ball at me and it seems like i took it to me face.

you have to power it at 1.8v..not 3.3v...

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

Hi peste,

I used the clip to attach it to the 1.8V adapter and then to the CH341a. Pics attached
Only received SPI ID: 20441.

Then I skipped the 1.8v adapter and directly connected to the CH341a.
Same result.

Is it possible to take a BIOS chip from another make/model motherboard and solder it here and download bios from HP website and write it into this bios, the system would be ok?

remove the chip from the board and stick it on the adapter where the clip comes from...and see if it detects it..

Hey peste,

Just did as you said. No difference.
Same result as before.

Im guessing at this point we just have to replace the BBIOOS chip. What do you think?

I just found this exact BIOS chip in Lenovo Yoga 6.
And i couldnt read that too.

Any idea why?

Is there something wrong with my CH341A? or its driver software?

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2523nd - Dimm2 slot disabled after corrupt bios repair? Advice requested.
by Bloodhoundje
Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...

Hello, I have the following laptop:

HP Pavilion Aero 13-be0003ca
ProdID: 2L7M8UA#ABL
S/N: 8CG150GPV6

Motherboard information is below:

203016-1

It needs BIOS repaired.

I created a flash drive using HP firmware utility and then had it plugged into the computer. I did the standard WinLogo->B key->Power button press. A window appeared and immediately began flashing the bios using the flash drive.
But I don't think it finished all the way. So, now when I attempt...

ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

Things I tried

by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...
