The TV turns on fine. TV started turning off on its own about 30 seconds after I power it on a couple of days ago. Ran just fine about 5 hours before this started happening but had been off for those hours. Problem started the first time after that. I have turned it on from the remote and from the front panel and see no difference in behavior.
I have been able to turn it on multiple times and change channels and volume. The picture is good. The set just doesn't want to stay on.
Based on info I found online, I have tried a soft reset (unplugged the TV for as much as 5 minutes, tried this more than once), changed the power cord from a surge protector to the wall outlet directly, and, although I had never configured them or used them since I bought the TV (since 2011), I made sure eco solution, sleep time and anynet+ were all turned off, all without any change. I had to make those menu changes in multiple startups because of the limited on-time. The TV always cuts out at about 30 seconds after the power button has been pushed. And the remote works fine to operate a TV I borrowed while repairing this one.
Wanted to do a factory reset, but that option does not appear in my menus as suggested online.
I don't believe the firmware has ever been upgraded and now the TV won't stay on long enough to even attempt it.
Was able to find the service manual here: https://www.jabse.com/L1NhbXN1bmcvTE...Q2RDYwMDAucmFy
and a Fast Track Troubleshooting Manual here: https://archive.org/details/Samsung_...t_track_guide/
but neither explicitly address my issue, so I need some direction to get my TV working again. So, I believe I have good info available but as a novice it doesn't help me much. I don't see my issue addressed, but maybe someone can point it out to me. Never worked on a TV before but have had success with other appliances.
I have a Klein Tools MM1000 multi-meter but only have experience using it to check continuity in various scenarios such as repairing a lamp and also checking the voltage of a car battery. I also have a Weller SP23 23-Watt soldering iron, if that helps. Any and all guidance greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mark
