    Exactly, the LEDs emit a naturally blue light, but they have been coated with a thin layer of yellow phosphor that, combined with the blue color, make the pure (expected) white.
    The heat and years end up peeling the yellow phosphor leaving a blue light underneath. I have removed the lens of several of these LEDS and I was able to see the remains of yellow phosphor around the LED, all cracked and wrinkled
    Like I said before I have repaired some dozen of LG Tv's, but also some were Samsung and TD Systems, but maybe just one of each of these

      This is a great thread seeing it come to a successful conclusion with such a small part only needing to be replaced.

          It's an incredibly helpful community, nothing worse than running out of ideas on what to check next.

          A mighty fine effort by all concerned and I love your perseverance - inspirational, that's how these faults get solved and the knowledge base grows.
