Cooler Master 550 watt - fan spins few seconds and then stop

    Hi guys,

i got this broken computer PSU with model number MPX5501AMAAB.

i detected that 1 of the diode (model number: SB2100) was broken and replaced with a new one. but that not solved the issue as the problem is still persists which indicates that other components are also shorted. maybe someone can advice on what to do next?

I attached some pictures for reference.

on the other hand, i encountered quite a few PSUs with the same problem..i.e the diode is shorted/opened but replacing it not solving the issue..may this be a good indicator what is the real problem is? maybe some of you experience the same thing and can direct what should i be looking for for such situation.

Lets start at the beginning. Do you have 5 volts on the 5vsb output line?

hi everell, thank you for your reply. based on this picture i got from the psu tester showing that 3.3v is missing..the 5 volts is present.

        "bronze"=Sigh.

You'll be lucky to get 7 years with the original caps. I don't expect that one to be a lick better than my 2008 FSP 500W. Looked like it likely didn't even last as long.

Judging by appearance, it looks like the PSU was possibly made in the period of 2016-2019. If true, that would be recent enough that it failing now, is a big problem!

you have 3.3v - it's on the lcd.
the leds refer to the extra cables on the left.

remove and inspect the fan control pcb - it may be waiting for the heatsink to warm up, or monitoring the current being drawn.

I learn that some atx psu need external load to come on operating state, dont judge on fan. Your tester shows all voltage present. If you connect motherboard, what happens?

Cooler Master ATC-S + Some other CoolerMaster Case - 2-fer in 1 Thread
                      by Topcat
This is a Coolermaster case double-header.... The reason this one didn't get added to my 'misc build' thread is becasue the Cooler Master ATC-S aluminum case....That case is a class-act way above & beyond anything in that thread! However, we have to get through a mediocre build to get to the treasure!

...but here's the two Cooler Master cases in question; both of which were drop-offs for recycling.... The one on the left, I'm not really sure what model it is. It's nothing overly special, but it is well-made. The one on the right is an ATC-S solid aluminum, best I can determine...

                      Liyama G-Master GB3466WQSU-B1 - Backlight on - Shutdown after a few Seconds
                      by Pygo86
                      Hey Folks,

i'm not far into Monitor troubleshooting. It's my first time. Normaly i try to repair Laptops.
The Monitor is powering up. And the Backlight turns on. After a few Seconds the Backlight shuts off and the Power LED turns form Blue to Red.
I can power it up again, but it's always the same Result.
No Matter which Connection is used.

I can't see anything obvius after disassembling. No Heatspots with the Thermalcam visible.
The Powerboard is looking great. There is 12V and 5V everywhere on the Logicboard.
So, i decided to swap that Logicboard....

ATX PSU Cooler Master RS-700-pcaa-e3 shutting off after 5 seconds
                      by dariolana
Got this from my kid with a fault on primary side. Main power supply here is AC 220V. All caps were Ok, testing with 2 series lamp of 70W each, got a bright lamp . Checked main heatsink one by one with my component tester and found one 3 leg buddy MDP18N50 that passed away. Got same replacement after a week, tested, short was gone, now I got 310V on primary.

Happy as a dog, added one case fan for some load and the fan of the PSU. Tested purple wire, got 5.1V, great!. Shorted green and black, fan spins and after about 5 seconds shuts down. I was able to measure doing several iterations...

Cooler Master 500W atx psu repair. Total cannot start at all
                      by anikin73
I am attempting to repair this. Circuit is quite simple, but i a quite stuck at it for a long time. so today i try to ask for new ideas. my challenge is to under stand what mistake i made. I had repaired not lesson than 50 pcs of various brands ATX psu . main pwm chip is Cm 6805 Sip 9 .
5VSB is fine. When I short Pson, totally nothing happen. I check , the Cm 6805 VCC pin2 did have 16v, But totally nothing happen. I changed to a good chip from another good PSU. Same thing.
What other pin should I check such that it will result in no start up at all ?

Seven Leagues Slot Machine stop button issues
                      by x_orange90_x
I don't know if anyone here has experience with Japanese slot (pachislo) machines, but I sure hope so. I bought this machine last week in semi-working order. It would play and the reels would spin, but the stop buttons would not stop them at all. I found that the high-frequency filtering tantalum capacitor was bad on the reel stop board, along with the fuse being blown. I replaced the fuse and removed the capacitor. I haven't replaced the cap yet because I didn't have one on hand, but it's not necessary for the operation of the machine.

The issue now is the Stop buttons are intermittently...
