    Astec DS550-3

I have a Astec DS550-3 that is out of warrenty with SUN and it has had problems but seems to still work.. I got a new replacement for the server and would like to turn this into a bench PS. I have done this a lot on ATX PS's but I'm confused on this what to use as my "turn on" pins.. Here is the pinout of it according to Astec. Any help would be awsome!

    Pin Signal Name
    PB 1 +12 V Return
    PB 2 +12 V Return
    PB 3 +12 V Return
    PB 4 +12 V
    PB 5 +12 V
    PB 6 +12 V
    A1 PS_KILL
    A2 +12 V_Current Share
    A3 Logic Return
    A4 +3.3 V Stand-By
    A5 A0 (I2C Address BIT 0 Signal)
    A6 +3.3V Stand-By
    B1 Logic Return
    B2 Spare
    B3 Logic Return
    B4 +3.3 V Stand-By
    B5 SDA (I2C Data Signal)
    B6 PSON (Power Enable Signal)
    C1 Logic Return
    C2 Tach_1 (Fan Fail Signal)
    C3 Logic Return
    C4 +3.3 V Stand-By
    C5 SCL (I2C Clock Signal)
    C6 VIN_GOOD (AC Input present)
    D1 -PS_Present (Power Supply Seated)
    D2 Spare
    D3 Logic Return
    D4 +3.3 V Stand-By
    D5 S_INT (Alert)
    D6 POK (Output Power Ok)

Well with ATX power supplies, you just short PS_ON to Ground. With this one, I would assume you'd short PSON to one of the Logic Returns. So, I'd connect B6 to any of A3, B1, B3, C1, C3 or D3.

Any chance of getting pictures up of the insides? Astec usually likes to have some strange designs and I just want to see what makes this one tick.

well I left it on my desk at work last night.. I will trot into the lab later and see if I can get it to fire up.. I will also see what kind of images I can get from my blackberry of it, if they are crap I will take some tonight with my good camera..

        Thanks!!

Well Could not get it to work, even on one I know is good.. Maybe I'm not getting to the right logic return pin...

          Here are those images..

Any other ideas on how I can get this to fire up as a bench supply?

Pin D1 -PS_Present must be grounded. (connect to logic return) This normally happens when the power supply is inserted into the system.

                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
                by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

What is a normal composite signal range for a C64?
                by Scruit
                Hello all,

Working on my first C64 / Breadbin / 250407. Purchased as non-working. Getting black screen.

More detail below, but for those that want to get right to the question.... Here are a few waveforms comparing the Pin15 output on the VIC chip (luma/sync) to the pin 4 on the AV socket (composite signal).

My question is: Is the composite waveform range of 0.1v-1v too low for a c64?

                More detail:

Symptoms are that that I get...
