Everyonce in awhile I get rewarded in the course of my business. Due to my work van being out of commission I've been forced to do tech work to make money.. so I decided to be brave an tackle computer power supply repair.
Last week I fixed about 5 450W PSU's, they had bad caps and seized fans. Sold a couple of them.
Brought home a OCZ700W PSU from the shop, plugged it in all I got was single green light on the PSU tester and no fan activity. So I popped the lid and sure enough there was a small bulged cap in the MOSFET section of the board wedged in between the transformer.
After some mild expletives I got the bad cap out.. took me a few minutes to get the replacement in, anyway I plugged it in turned it on and it worked!
Oh ya I looked up the model number of this thing.. apparently it's about $100 new. Gotta love fixing something for basically $2 and 15 minutes of your time!
