Psu directly turn on after plug cable to the wall (acbel e2470)

    Hello..

I've got a old nice psu from my friend.
    Acbel e2 power 470

But this psu rather weird, do something that i've never seen before.
This one automatically turn-on (without connect the green and black wire), after i plug the power cable to the wall.

Sooo.. there's no faulty in primary and secondary.. right?

For the first, i guess maybe faulty supervisor.
So i was replace the supervisor ic (wt7257) with the working one.

    No good..

After i replace *ALL* the ic(s), transistors, 431, optocoupler, small caps near the supervisor ic, Even i was replace transformers (from working identical unit)..there's still same symptom.

Directly turn on after i plugged the power cable.
    (diodes/ZD measured okay with multimeter)

    * Primary uc3843 , tny277
    * Secondary LM339, wt7257

    I'm really lost here..
    Any ideas?
Is the problem happened in primary or secondary side?

    Thanks a lot.

Re: Psu directly turn on after plug cable to the wall (acbel e2470)

ATX power supplies are soft switched. They provide 5VSB to the mobo.
This powers some components, that allow the MB to wake up from events like network card or timer(BIOS setting to turn on the computer at specified time) or to be able to trigger PowerOn signal.
Usually the Mobo turns on the PSU by connecting Green wire to GND(black wire). Then it expects power good signal from the PSU to start the POST process.
You have MOSFETS, rectifier and control IC in the primary side.
Check if PowerON wire/Green/ is not shorted to the ground.
If not, check it's path to the control IC.
Also, this PSU is not nice, but almost trash. Even google barely knows it. Perhaps it is rebranded Codegen or something like this.

Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.
    1km=1000m=100000cm, 1inch=2.54cm, 1mile=1609.344meters, 1ft=30.48cm 1gal(US)=3.785liters, 1lb=453grams, 1oz=28.34grams

Yep, that's the first thing that i was check even before opening the box.
Black and green wire absolutely not shorted.

but, if psu turn automatically when plugged without connect green-black wire, i was notice there no PG signal.
But if i connect green and black wire, PG signal exist.

Actually this psu is pretty decent for office use.
      Far from fireworks psu.
Acbel make their own psu, not from codegen or other else.

Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK, 80U00002US battery cable wire broken.
        by emeskay
We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...

New wire for my RDE3340 Whirlpool electric range
        by wnlewis
OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

        Where may I find parts...

        Cable Repair
        by Patch2
I have a broken connector (believe it's a 6 pin mini-DIN) on a cable. The metal shroud and all but one of the pins are separated from the cable, and just stuck together for the photo. The other end is an unknown rectangular connector. The cable is for the foot pedals on an Italian made electronic piano, and the company is out of business. Looking for ideas on how to fix it. I have a soldering iron, but I'm not very skilled at soldering, so getting a retrofit for the broken end may be beyond my ability. The other end would be easier to replace, if I could get a mini-DIN cable with the same number...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
        by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Tiny Tech ATX480W output power ticking
        by mikey5791
        Hi to all forum members,

This psu (Tiny Tech model ATX 480W) had been installed in a very old Windows XP PC but recently i pulled it out as the pc cannot start. To test it, i jumped the green wire and black wire on the 24 pin connector. The psu fan jerk a bit but not spinning. I used my dmm to check dc voltage on output connector wire, the 5v red wire keeps ticking a bit at around dc1v....then drops and ticking again around 1v. It is the same situation with the 12v yellow wire.

Fyi, i desoldered the secondary side electrolytic cap those over 1000uf...
