everel, that athena is one the the biggest POS' i have seen. i think i puked in my mouth looking at that

as for the piss-power...
that is the wimpy-ist heatsink (not plural!) i have ever seen. one coil, few guts, i think i only saw 2 diodes, not 4. what a POS it is. maybe good for 75w on a good day...

That Pro Power 250W is missing its secondary side heatsink and diodes, since I removed them as soldering practice back then. But, its secondary heatsink was wimpy.
The Enermax 300W power supply I had was put into my brother's computer, he used to have a "The Best Power" MT-500P 500W power supply. He complained of random restarts once in a while, so I thought replacing the power supply might solve the issue. It will also be a test for the Enermax 300W power supply, to see if the new capacitors I installed will do their job. I have new pictures of that "500W" power supply that I'll post here tomorrow.My gaming PC:

Newbie2 - Your modifications to the L&C look good; however, Nichicon PW on the primary side is overkill and may actually decrease reliability a bit. Why? because they are low-ESR, so the inrush surge current is going to be limited only by the thermistor, if there is one, on the primary side. Depending on the instant when it is plugged in, it could either:
a) blow the fuse
b) blow the primary-side bridge rectifier.
Anyway, if the system is going to be always left plugged in, and if there's no problem at the moment, you can just forget about this possibility for now, and be happy. Everything else looks bulletproof.Comment

My L&C power supply after a good period of use, and I upgraded the video card in the computer to a recapped (Panasonic and Rubycon capacitors) Diablotek ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB DDR AGP 8X video card.
The stock speeds of the video card were 400MHz core and 200MHz DDR (400MHz). The 9600 chip on the video card is the 9600XT chip, RV360 (checked by removing the heatsink), so with ATITool I put the core speed up to 500MHz, the standard speed for the 9600XT RV360 chip, and it works without any issues (no artifacts in 3DMark03, Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield, and the CoD4 PC demo). The DDR chips on the video card are of the cheap elixir brand and are running at their rated speed.

Deer power supplies have good designs, but the components that they use in their power supplies can be shoddy in quality, especially the capacitors and the fan.My gaming PC:

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
I have a klipsch kda-500 that would turn on and allow me to get into the web management but it was picking up a lot of noise from audio sources so i decided to replace the smd caps on the power supply along with radial one. Some one was in here before me and they basically burned the bottom side of the traces off for the radial cap but i was able to repair it without any real problem. I thought i did a good job sourcing out replacement caps but apparently not and now i can't get the power supply to turn on it just constantly try's to keep turning on. I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.
i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....
