    L&C Tech LC-250ATX

    new member here
I am trying to power up a disk drive with an L&C Technologies LC-250ATX power supply which was removed from an old pc. The power supply was removed from the pc and the pc is gone. I turn it on and there is no fan or 12v power. I was told that I need to jumper something to get it to turn on. What do I need to do?
    thank you in advance

On the main ATX cable, jumper the green wire to any black wire.

I wouldn't use that L&C power supply for anything I care about. They were cheaply built back then with crap caps, and those caps have not gotten better over the years. I also don't suggest leaving that power supply plugged in unattended.

But other than that it's great, right?

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

It looks quite beefy to me (for a phone charger)
Wait, it's not a phone charger but a P4 compatible PSU? Oh, ok, nevermind me then.

There's a PSU in that picture?

Just the heatsinks, 12V "dual rectifier", and input rectifiers alone say, "Load me more than 150W for very long and something will launch!" But with those 1KV DC pseudo-Y-caps I wouldn't plug it in.

Eh... I've seen worse... much worse.

Actually these crapola PSUs can't even do 50 Watts in spec when it comes to ripple suppression. So loading them past 60-80 Watts is already very dangerous.

And yes, those 1kV ceramic caps are not even "pseudo-Y" -rated at all - they're just plain old ceramic caps.
