    mge / eaton evolution battery backup

    Below are pictures of 1 of the 2 boards from a mge / eaton evolution 1150va battery backup. The battery backup has no signs of life with fresh batteries. It died after a power failure discharged the batteries. / shows no signs of life, will not turn on. This is a high quality battery backup with avr / full sine wave output.

    I'm trying to determine if there is a startup cap / whether it is c53 on the board, please help me with the photos below.

    C53, C6 is 50v 10uf
    C66, C22, C19, C2 are all 50v 47uf
    C5, and C8 are 250v 22uf
    c13, c65, and I believe but cant read c64 are 35v 1000uf

    The negative on every cap is connected to the negative of the batteries most of the outer edge of board is all negative instead of case ground. There appears to be almost no case ground on this board. Negative on the battery would be 23-26v depending on battery charge. (4 x 6v sla batteries)

    The power button logic / usb and what not are on a separate smaller board connected by a ribbon cable, but youd think the batteries probably should charge even if that board is not present, but this doesn't charge the batteries when plugged in.

      nr1 (8 pin ic) is uc3842B pwm controller (might be made by st, hard to make out logo)
      nr2 (8 pin ic) is 431ac precision shunt regulator?
      Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

          C6 appears to be connected with its positive going to pin 7 on the pwm ic (Vi). so I assume c6 is the startup cap.

          (edited the initial post, because I had wrong capacitance on c6)

              with the battery connected I get 25v on both sides of C6 and get 25v at pin 7 (Vi) of the pwm controller. not sure if that means C6 is working fine or what. Not really sure why you even need a startup cap in a battery backup that uses the batteries to initially power the IC's.

                  If you disconnect the wires to the batteries and measure the DCV on the wires when the UPS is plugged in, do you get any DCV charging Voltage at all? The charging circuit is always without having to turn the UPS on, it will charge the batteries when incoming AC power is present.

                      I notice E3 (VT1) looks cooked, TO-220 with small heatsink on corner of board.
                      Tiny fuse F1 on PCB underside feeds it, I would check both.

                          Order my parts from mobilesentrix.com and iPhone batteries have been excellent. Recently got 3x bad A1534 (2015) batteries. All would work until ~30-40+% and drop to < 10% instantly. Typical sign of cheap batteries.

                          Perhaps the less popular A1534 model's aftermarket batteries are more source limited. Just find it surprising quality from mobilesentrix (usually fairly high quality aftermarket parts) have been so poor.

                          Fixing the Charge Circuit of the Batteries of the DC Motor

                          Hi friends of electronics

                          What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.

                          The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.

                          Please help me fix this circuit.

                          Hello, all.

                          Cyberpower Battery Backup Unit.

                          I bought two new ML18-12 batteries through Amazon (They have already refunded my money for the two batteries as we thought the batteries might have been bad.)
                          When I got them in, they were not fully charged. I connected them to the UPS and waited 24 hours before connecting any networking equipment.
                          In parallel, they read 24v, but within 24 hours, the meter on the front of the unit dropped from 4 to 3 bars on the battery charge indicator.
                          Checking the voltage, it was down to 22v.
                          I quickly removed everything...

                          APC BR1000G battery backup has a weird issue sometimes a bad battery icon and making a weird sound for about 30 seconds

                          This started a few days ago and does this about every 8 hours

                          After it does this it goes back to normal no bad battery icon and no weird sounds and it goes to battery backup mode so I am not sure what is going on with this battery backup

                          The battery backup is about 3 or 4 years old

                          Dose anyone have any idea on how to troubleshoot this issue I have never had a battery backup do this kind-a thing before so I am not sure exactly how to troubleshoot it and where to start

                          Hi all,

                          sometimes i'm in need of a charger / tester for very small batteries and even if my multimeter doesn't show anything there is a chance that a smart charger helps to revieve. I'm happy with my Keenstone smartcharger and i made a small mod just to use it with smaller batteries like in smartwatches or even camera batteries with special contacts.

                          Soldering wires on the charger contacts and using needles as probes. I covered both with a shrink hose with integrated solder.
                          My first work was to bring my Samsung watch battery back to life with was not recognized...
