Yesterday this psu "exploded". The magic smoke came out and it was dead. Today i opened it up and saw a blown 5vsb chip, but i don't know its model number. Does anybody know which chip would be a good replacement?

by nick122Hi everyone!
I’m trying to diagnose (and perhaps even upgrade) this Chieftec (Delta rebrand) power supply from an old rig
The computer just stopped turning on one day. No explosions, no magic smoke, it just died.
There is no 5vsb, and nothing happens when I try to jump start it, it’s completely dead…
I took it apart and nothing looks out of the ordinary. The fuse isn’t blown and the main cap gets charged (found out the hard way lol)
The caps are mostly ltec with a samxon primary, none of which are bulging
Any ideas what I should look... -
by jaifraicHello,
I have a DJ mixer here, an Xone:92 by Allen & Heath.
When I turned it on, only magic smoke came out, so I turned it off again.
An optical troubleshooting has brought me quite fast to the
source of the smoke: two resistors look disproportionately black (see first pic)
Those are R73 and R74 on the master PCB. See second pic for the corresponding page of the service manual.
Behind those resistors are five OP-Amps (U3, U4, U5, U6 and U9).
My thought is that one (or more) of those is defective. I've measured...-

by momakaFor today's thread, I have a KingWin ABT-650MM ATX PSU. Official web page with the PSU specs is still up and can be found here:
http://www.rmac.kingwin.com/products.../abt_650MM.asp
I just can't help it when I see a broken / for parts PSU on eBay that's listed for cheap and looks at least somewhat interesting. Well, OK, I won't lie – on the outside, this PSU looks anything but interesting. It's a plain gray box with colorful “spaghetti cables”.
What mostly drew me into buying it is its 2x PCI-E power connectors... -
by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by cmlewis89Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum. So my trusty 17-year-old LG 47" LCD recently died. As I was booting it up, I heard a hum followed by a loud bang, sounds of pieces flying around, and loss of power to the unit. Inspecting the PSU, I saw two obvious problems: a blown thermistor (bang + flung pieces) and a visibly bulging main cap. Inspecting as many components as I could with my Fluke MM, I diagnosed that the following components on the "hot side" of the board were also bad: one of the 2 main MOSFETs, main 8A fuse, small cap (25V 47uF) connected to main caps, and a blown...12 Photos - Loading...
