Allen & Heath Xone:92 (DJ mixer) no output on main out & magic smoke

    Hello,

I have a DJ mixer here, an Xone:92 by Allen & Heath.

When I turned it on, only magic smoke came out, so I turned it off again.
An optical troubleshooting has brought me quite fast to the
source of the smoke: two resistors look disproportionately black (see first pic)

Those are R73 and R74 on the master PCB. See second pic for the corresponding page of the service manual.
    Behind those resistors are five OP-Amps (U3, U4, U5, U6 and U9).

My thought is that one (or more) of those is defective. I've measured through and there is no short circuit between the pins of those.

Does anyone see another reason for the error? Or has an idea on how to troubleshoot further?

I have attached the complete service manual.

Best regards and many thanks already,
    Jaifraic

It does look like only those op-amps are powered through those resistors, so aside from C58/C60 (which would both have to go shorted at the same time, and is unlikely) it is most likely one of the opamps that shorted.

It's possible you can't find a short because the opamp that shorted blew open circuit due to the fault current.

You could try one of two things - replace the resistors and power up. If the opamp is now open circuit, then trace the audio through all of the ones in question, and you will find the audio signal disappears at some point. Then you know which opamp is bad.

You could also apply power at the +/-VA rail from an external (current limited) supply and slowly increase current. With just 5 opamps powered, you should have pretty much no current draw. If the current is significant, then at least one of the opamps should heat up and you can touch each one and find whichever is bad.

Allen & Heath Xone:02 (DJ Mixer) - Burnt out Resistor
      by trickartt
      Hello Badcaps!

I am trying to troubleshoot my Allen & Heath Xone:02 DJ mixer. I have had this for somewhere close to 20 years and have played music through it in one form or another pretty much every single day since I've had it, though these days it's usually from a wireless streaming receptacle (Apple Airport) more than the turntables that are also connected to it.

This week my music stopped working, and after a bit of a wild goose chase, I realised my mixer was dead. I checked the 500mA fuse in the device beside the power supply and found it was blown, so I replaced...

      Allen&Heath XONE92 DJ mixer repair
      by JohnsonJ
      Hello everyone.

I'm having issues with my DJ mixer, and after taking it apart and checking everything out, it seems that I need to replace 2 rotary potentiometers for the filter, and that the PSU has some caps burned. Hopefully these 2 fixes will solve my issues.

The potentiometers I will just replace (hopefully the repairman I spoke with will indeed send me the spares, in case he doesn't, I'll update here if we can find a suitable replacement), but for the PSU caps I'd kindly ask you forum members, if anyone could help guide me in the right direction. I'm having difficulty...

Allen & Heath Xone:92 mixer problem - faulty phono channel outputs on one side only
      by analogicalmind
      Hi all,

Wondering if anyone here can help – I have an Allen and Heath Xone:92 silver mixer with one faulty channel – channel 2 is only outputting on one side (right side) when set to a phono input. It works fine with a line input, and all the other channels work perfectly with phono and line inputs. I'm not sure when this happened as I rarely use the faulty channel – it could well have been like this for years! Any thoughts on what might be causing the fault and how it could be repaired? I can do some basic soldering, so I'm hoping I might be able to fix it myself.

      Allen and Heath Xone S2
      by JTaylor
      Hello everyone.
I am trying to repair an Allen and Heath Xone S2 mixer but need a schematic. I found the service manual on line but it is missing 4 pages.
When an input is connected to one of the four line / phono input channels I can hear the music in the cue / headphones but there is no output on the master, the input faders are doing nothing. I can connect the sound input to the mic / line inputs or the external input boards and there is sound on the master output. One of the 74HC4053D Multiplexer/Demultiplexer had blown on the slave PCB so I changed this, I also changed two of...

Schematic Digital Audio mixer RCF type M18
      by Bektronics
      Hello dear audio friends.

I am feverishly looking for the full electronic schematic (not a block diagram) of the RCF type M18 digital audio mixer.
The device does not make a WIFI connection with my Apple tablet and yet I have already installed the recent app on it.
I suspect that there is a problem in the mixer itself with the WIFI card and of course I would like to see this on an extensive schedule before opening the device.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me with this schematic.
Of course, all information about this digital mixer and possibly references...
