Tripp-light Smart online UPS SU1500RTXL2UA...No Power Issue!

I was just looking to get some advice on a couple of Tripp-light smart online Battery back up UPS's that I have with a "No Power on Issue" When plugged in I get no lights, no fans....The few things I did was #1. bypass the reset button and still no go...#2. I pulled the board and check for any burn marks, bulged caps, etc. But everything looks brand new? #3. the final thing I did was charge the 4 batteries in both the units ( 4-12v 7.5amp battery's.) and it looks like none of them will hold a decent charge! Looks like units have been sitting for awhile... one of the batteries had a date of 12/20/14
I have had big units similar to these with bad batteries and they would still power on, fans run etc but would give a code/light on the face for faulty/dead Battery's....
Does anyone know if these particular tripp-light units need fresh batteries to power up?? I would not think so, but I cant really seem to find any other issues with the 2 units? I did not find any hot/burn marks on boards, fuses good, and caps test ok?
Any Ideas? advice? Any help much appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

I think that this is a "online" UPS. Those should go even without a battery installed, as it still should condition power, because the inverter is always on. I don't have that particular brand, but I have some same vintage. I can take the batteries right out and it will turn on. Of course it does complain about the battery etc.

Take the batteries out, plug the unit in and hold the on button in for like 5 seconds until it starts.

You also can try to put a power supply on the UPS's battery terminals and turn the unit on without being plugged in to the mains.

Thanks Guys, I will try all the above and let you know!
I did not purchase these units new so the warranty route will probably not be an option...I picked these up in auction for like 25.00 bucks each..So no big loss If I don't get them working..they do have plenty of high end parts to scavenge If I don't figure out whats wrong with them..I will keep you posted on the results of tests... Thanks for reply's!!

I just wanted to follow up with this post just encase someone else had the same trip model or issue with it!!
I ordered 4 new battery's for this unit and once I installed them "presto" she fired right up!! So, This model of tripp-light DOES in fact NEED good battery's to power up!!! I got both units working great with new battery's...Just FYI..
          Thanks...

Thanks for the follow-up, I would think the ERROR LIGHTS they put on the front of the unit is supposed to help the customer to know if the batteries are bad or not but I guess not.

I am surprised that this online UPS doesn't run without the batteries. Mine do... different brand though... go figure...
