However, you can't use a 100V varistor either, because the voltage on each cap will be around 165V and may go up to 170 V when your line is 5% high. So that's why you need a varistor rated between 180-200V ...
On my super-duper Oh Deer I installed two '175' between the bulk caps:

On 230VAC they are in series and work like one single '350' of same Joule rating.

Also installed one '300' MOV upstream from the rectifier bridge:

      Update.
      Changed my varistor to 200v
Found out that there is a fuse covered with black rubber that does not give a reading on the multimeter. That fix my problem. Thanks everyone.

          Nice work.
Yes, the fuse is covered like that on many Bestec PSUs. Make sure to insulate the new one, too, especially if it is a glass fuse (which looks like it is).

How can I identify varistor which have been blew up?
            by chth96
I mistakely pluged 100v japanese retro game console to 220v outlet.
So It seems that glass fuse and varistor have been blew up.
I can identify that voltage and ampere value of glass fuse(250V LF 1.6A),but It is impossible to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU(YAMAHA 35M07U XR258)
Is there any way to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU?
            Any reply would be appreciated.

            EDIT:
It seems that I finally found out what type this black varistor is. It is Panasonic ERZV05D221 “ZNR” Transient/Surge Absorbers (Type D) Varistor Voltage...

A noob needs help for Apple Macbook Air M1 2020 A2337 - logic board short circuit
            by Guest
            Hello all!

Recently I've got a broken Macbook Air M1 2020 A2337 of eBay with a broken screen and not turning on issue.

After some tinkering I've found C5201 capacitor to be blown. This is where I hit a wall since I am a total noob in this area and have no idea what else to look for. C5201 is on one line with 3 more capacitors which visually seem ok, but beep on continuity mode and also both sides of all capacitors beep when tested with ground from the board. This to me sounds like a short, but I am not able to find what component is before the capacitors to test it....

            Hi all!

I just bought a pair of ADS L810 speakers, which I've heard are some of the best speakers from that time (late 70's) into the early 80's. I was super excited to test them out and hooked them up and I was very underwhelmed by the treble. The treble was awfully muffled. I've been doing some restoration work on 70's stereos and a couple of speakers here and there so I am really just a beginner. I do know that capacitors in speaker crossovers filter out the lows to allow only the highs up to the tweeters and mids. Inductors filter out the highs to allow the lower frequencies to...

            The CH341A doesn't read anything, but maybe that's because I'm a noob :D
            by Jérémy Vanbaelinghem
            Hello,

I'm desperately trying to get my CH341A to work, but it seems that all my attempts have failed. Despite everything, I want to check that it works, the aim being to read at least one chip and “screenshot” the configuration for me to use as a reference.

Here are the steps (software part):
            - I'm running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0 build 26100)
            - Drivers are installed (no error messages) and there are no problems in the Device Manager.
            - Set the language to English (to avoid the CH341A's basic software bug)
            - Does not work on AsProgrammer...
