I've been reading and it seems Antec used/uses crappy caps in all their PSU's. A couple months ago, I was fixing someone's PC (it was overheating and shutting off), and I recommended they replace the PSU since it was a way underpowered generic one. I swapped it out for a brand new Antec Basiq 350W. Now that I'm reading about Antec PSU's, I'm getting worried because if that Antec I installed for them goes, it's my rep on the line. Does anyone know if they still use those crappy Fuhjyyu caps? The PSU in question was bought at Fry's for $39.99 sometime in late September/Early November.

Re: Antec PSU's
Only Antec that currently seems 'safe' is the Earthwatts series.
But the Basiq doesn't appear to use Fuhjyyu so I wouldn't sweat bullets or anything.
Here is what I found:
The Antec Basiq reviews on Newegg say that out of 38 buyers ~16% rated them as poor or very poor. (6 of 38 reviewers.)
That's not great but not horrible either as far as Newegg reviews go.
The known "Fuhjyyu" Antecs which are at 29% with over 500 reviews in.
Antec Basiq is built by Fortron and uses CapXon caps.
Not too bad and a cubic butt-ton better than Fuhjyyu or OST.

by AJ847.63eHi Folks,
Just wanted to clear up a misunderstanding of mine (or what I expect is one). Isn't the 12V rail from the 24 pin, EPS and PCIE separated? IE if I put a power resistor on the ATX 12V pin that is not going to load, thus tell me if the EPS or PCIE rails are fine?
I was recently watching ArIs from Hardware Busters video on how to properly test ATX PSUs without using 5 figure Croma substations.
The PCB adapter he used breaks out the 12, 5 and 3.3V pins from the 24 pin and gives you banana plugs to connect to. That is a bit useless is it not? Aren't... -

by sirpsycholWhile recaping Antec Earthwatts EA-380 I've broke one side of unknown smd element, it have no print, it's flatter and darker than smd capacitors on this board, shaped more like resistor but it's not resistor ofc. Unfortunetly the printed description was under it and element was glued to the board so I cant read/tell the letter before element number too. Have anyone any idea what it is? Maybe is there any diagram of this PSU?

by ajdrenterIn my search for a proper 5v heavy ATX power supply, I selected an old Antec SU-380 that I've had in storage for a long time. Opening the power supply reveals a couple bulged capacitors. I removed all the caps and made a map for myself. I found the datasheet for the PCE TUR series in this thread:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14159
It says these are general purpose, so I assume I can replace them with any general purpose capacitors, but I don't really know anything about power supply circuits or reading capacitor datasheets. Despite this, I've been shopping for replacements:...-

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:
