Re: Newbie - Imac 24 - Liteon PSU - no power at all
NM, saw you did in multi-post. You can attach all to same post.
Click -> Go Advanced -> Manage Attachments -> Browse (for each file) then click -> Upload (wait for it to finish) then close the pop-up window.
I can't see anything obvious. FYI - The top isn't made to come off the fuse. It's meant to be un-soldered.
Do the sniff test and see if you can localize the source of the bang. Look for obvious burn/scorch marks or components missing pieces. Such as the face of the transistors mounted on the heat sinks. Look for debris on the board from a blown component.
Re: Newbie - Imac 24 - Liteon PSU - no power at all
That was how I uploaded photos but for some reason it would only do one at a time, the only thing I can find is the burning around the fuse .
No joy from the seller it was a bit misleading anyway because the website said .co.uk making it look like I was buying from UK company not until I purchased did I find out it was from China as I paid with PayPal I have opened a case for a refund but that is not getting my iPad working

Re: Newbie - Imac 24 - Liteon PSU - no power at all
We'll PayPal found in my favour
So now I need to try and repair the old PSU so let me explain what happened my son sent me the imac by delivery van when he packed it up very well it was working ok but when it got here it not even turn on but when we fitted the PSU that went bang it worked for 4hours before it went pop so it was not anything else so why would a PSU fail in transit.
Re: Newbie - Imac 24 - Liteon PSU - no power at all
Have you tried the original PSU again?
If I understand correctly...
-The iMac -was- working when your son shipped it.
-The iMac did -not- work when you received it. Yes?
Had your original post been clear on that, this would have gone in another direction. My first choice would have been to check all the connectors/connections. A PSU failing in transit is not likely.
Re-reading the original post-
"then a loud bang and the trip went out when I removed it I found the fuse had blown"
Does that underlined bit mean it tripped the circuit breaker?
Re: Newbie - Imac 24 - Liteon PSU - no power at all
Thanks toasty for your reply
And yes the house trip went out but that was with the replacement PSU not the original one that would not work when it turned up from my son,and yes I have tried the original one again just to mak sure, and it still not working.I am going to put the meter across it when I get time.
But I thought it was odd that something should happen to it in transit
Re: Newbie - Imac 24 - Liteon PSU - no power at all
The only burnt bit was the fuse that blew itself to bits.
But I have found the problem with the old PSU the two wires that supply the 240vto PSU one had a break in repaired it and imac working fine.
Many thanks for your help.Dell
