    Re: iMac 24 PSU LITEON PA-3241-02A1 250W

That's all the voltages you will get from the CN1 connector.

Your 24v line is on the single inline 12 pin connector CN2 on the opposite edge of the board. Pin 1 is at the corner next to the mounting hole. The 5 pins 8-12 provide the 24v.

If you have these with a lamp load on them and voltages check, then the supply is good.

I suspect your problem lies on the mainboard/motherboard.

You replaced the IC that fast? Where did you get it that fast?

With a lamp in series? The lamp may glow brightly, but nothing should blow...

Since you didn't answer before (Post 78), what is the condition of the fuse? Blackened or just open?

Did you check for the short (again) between gate-drain?

Mr. Toasty, what do you think about "bridge" the fuse?... I think it´s bad but... I don´t have another idea to do...

That's called Dancing with the Devil. You ONLY do that if you use the lamp in series.

You SHOULD be doing this work with an Isolation Transformer.

First I try with the 220v lamp in series but the lamp doesn´t light on (plug the wire to electricity) and I don´t have any volts in the enter of the board... I decided extract the lamp and connect directly to the PS. The fuse dead one more time.

The fuse is only dead, not blackened, only just open. It´s different but 5A/ 250v

                  Hi
Next time just test the fets easy diode mode pull the date sheet to see where the drain source and gate legs are reversing your probes a reading from 100 to 400 or more one way reversing probes a zero in other direction is a good working fet. Caps by a good ESR METER ... is some cases it good to pull the fet and check the solder landing pads for short again diode mode on meter red probe on a ground pad black probe on landing only one leg should be grounded.

You must use an INCANDESCENT light. CFL, LED, flourescent are not proper.

                      Looks like it's working though.

                              Marked: 6R165P
                              Manufacturer (Infineon) Part Number: IPW60R165CP

                              See attached datasheet.

The original is in a plastic TO-220 package. Appears you can only get those from China. (ebay)

The US suppliers (Arrow, Digi-Key, Newark, Mouser, etc.) have them in the TO-247-3 package per the datasheet. You will need a longer screw to handle that package as a replacement.

Why are you looking for the part? General interest or is it defective? A bad one of those would be odd.

                                thanks

This is a imac that come from a PC technical assistance without this mosfet, and they said that this PC had no repair.

I searched for PSU datasheet without luck.

I will buy these mosfet to try understand the real problem.

                                Thanks again

                                  Okay!

It is odd for that MOSFET to fail.

Once you replace it, please make sure you use the incandescent lamp in series as I referenced in Post 88 of this thread.

Please be very careful as you are dealing with the Mains power on this MOSFET and surrounding circuit.

                                      Yeah, my mistake.

The TO-247-3 is the wrong package for this PSU. * Identical electrically.

So, you are restricted to the TO-220 package(s).

In original (plastic) or in earlier versions (metal tab). * Metal tab will need an insulator for the screw and a heatsink mica or silicone insulator.

Looks like you're stuck going to ebay and China for these.

iMac 2017 PSU - shorted PFC mosfet
                                            by mat2k
I am trying to fix an iMac 2017 PSU, initially came with a blown fuse and shorted PFC MOSFET (6R199P). After visual inspection and some measurements I replaced the FET with a P20NM60 and tested with 100w series lamp, and it lasted 1 second before going into dead short. The PFC controller chip (NCP1605BG) and its passives appear fine (passives measure OK), but I do not know if there is a simple way of testing the NCP1605 as I wouldn't like to blind-replace it.
There was some slight blackening of the solder on the PFC controller passives so I reflowed them all with some flux. I am waiting...

I tried to use this method:

                                            Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the

Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them. I am currently trying to solve two problems:

I have a Gigabyte GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD type card. I managed to find the faulty MOSfet (AON6414A) on it, which I replaced. The card starts up, but after about half a minute, the MOSfet in the same position will be shorted again. Is it possible that the PWM controller driving the MOSfet...

                                            Hello everyone,

I've faced a problem that my iMac does not start anymore. After a short investigation, I've found that PSU does not work and does not produce any stand-by voltage.

With a DMM I've found a short on 24V line and the problem was in Schottky diode D200. Another issue that I've found is a broken n-FET on a 12V line. After removing these components the short has disappeared. I replaced the diode witр a 30CTQ060 and transistor with another n-FET (I did not have exactly the same transistor). Now PPS works fine without load on the output.
