I have a FSP350-60BT with one bad cap. It is a Fuhjyyu 1000uf 16v d8mm. I replaced it with a 1000uf 16v d10mm Rubycon YK, but the PSU won't startup. I test it with a PowerMax PSU tester and get nothing. I put the old Fuhjyyu back in and it starts. I then replaced the Fuhjyyu with a ChemiCon 1000uf 16v d10mm KZE and again it doesn't startup. Does anyone know of a replacement cap that will work for this PSU?

Re: Replacement for Fuhjyyu cap
Interesting - this is most probably a cap on the secondary side of the auxiliary flyback converter that generates +5Vsb. If it has a TOPSwitch power switch on the primary side, it may not reliably start with a larger capacitor on the secondary - a longer startup charge time triggers its internal overload protection, and it shuts down and tries to restart after a few tens of milliseconds, and keeps cycling thereafter.
This is the first instance I've heard of where an identically spec'ed replacement cap has caused problems - there is probably one other cap in the auxiliary flyback circuit which is marginal, maybe on the primary side. You may want to try with a lower-valued replacement cap - say 820/16, 680/16 or 680/25. -
Re: Replacement for Fuhjyyu cap
That´s for me the first issue too, i recaped a lot of 5v SB Topswitcher circuits with 1000uF to 1500uF without any issue.
But usually you should avoid caps larger than 1000uF may be you need less.
Have you replaced both caps in the o/p filter?
Try a GPO cap, if it is working with it, either lower the capacitance or try to use a older Low esr series with higher ESR.Comment

Re: Replacement for Fuhjyyu cap
Thank you each for your reply to my question. I have just tried using a Chemicon 16v 680uf KZE cap as a replacement but PSU still does not start. I will be followup on the other suggestions and let you know what results I get.Comment

Re: Replacement for Fuhjyyu cap
Probably there are other quirks like other bad Fuhjyyu caps? if yes may be you have to start from the begining.
Any way, you shopuld try to find the SMPS controler, usually a IC with 8 to 16 pins. there must be a smaller capacitor, wich is supplying the Vdd to the IC.
usually it is abouth 10uF to 50uF /25v to 50v.
Replace it withany cap near those values but 50v (GPO cap is ok, you don?t need Low esr there).
May be this solves your issue. If this cap is degrading, the IC won`t switch on, your PSu obviousely too.Comment

Re: Replacement for Fuhjyyu cap
my educated guess is the +12 rectifier is very leaky.
the ac popped the cap and now the new cap is a good short to the ac from the bad rectifier.
btw i have replaced that cap with a 3300@16 fm.
hey its all i had when i recapped that psu.
i am using that psu in this box now.
its been 6 months and no problems.
this psu has the cleanest +12 in town!Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by omonHi,
I was hoping to get some help in identifying a replacement capacitor for a PET Rubycon A0817 6.3V 1000uF rated for 105C temp, MBZ series.
This is to replace one bad capacitor on a DELL 530 motherboard DG33M03 (manufactured by Foxconn, DELL part # FM586).
I'm attaching the pictures of the bad cap.
Thank you so much!...-

by the_remHello guys,
I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.
I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow... -
by ezeniaHello,
Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.
So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.
I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,... -
by boosti45i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement?...
