    Hello all,
coming back on this unit, I know already 6 years. After changing all electrolyte's caps (I also make a little modification to put 2 little fans [one on the heat sink of the 15V regulator and the other one at the back] to get a better air flow and also display the temperature at this 15V regulator), the unit ran like a charm up to last week.
Once more a charging issue that lead to slowly discharging my batteries (on get one defect, but after some years I assuming it can be acceptable). Changing the batteries, and.... after 1 day, capacity drop to 60% without explanations. Looking into the unit again, the charging voltage without batteries, power off; is ok at 27.4Vdc. I found the charging current is not stable but by short pulse of 200 to 300mA, and current flows from one side + to the other -. More on the discharging than charging. Leading to slowly discharging the batteries.
Measuring caps, they are all good this time. Finally found that the D6 Diode (RL207 700V 2A) ,near the IC U1 VIPer22A, is defect. Got about 190 ohms resistor. Changing this to one with one of my stock (the RL207 is obsolete and can be replaced, by example, by a 2A07G or 2407GH), and the problem is now fixed. The normal charging current is stable at about 0.4A and slowly decrease up to 0.03A when batteries are fully charged and voltage is 27.4Vdc.
Hope this can help other people facing the similar issue.

    Hello all,
please don't ask me to publish SM here, i don't want to be responsible for any copyright infringement, its a Cyberpower authority
i can send to moderators and then forum badcaps.net can be responsible

Edit: Just checked the posted pics of the PCB which has helped to identify some of the components, so my thanks to the posters who took the time to upload them, but I cannot make out the markings on the IC U1.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

    Hello Febman,
    the U1 IC type is : VIPer22A
    it is a 9V to 38V, DIP-8
Low Power OFF-Line SMPS Primary Switcher

You can find more infos on the Web by googling the type.
It can be found by Mouser or DigiKey for example.

    Best regards,

Re: Cyber Power 2200E not switching to AC power (0V output)

    Hello everyone,
I have a CyberPower Value 2200E that have the problem of charging the battery. Checking the electrolytic caps and find the same as Mladen82 : most of the 22uF/50V were defect, especially C3, C37, C39 and C41 that have about 13uF instead of 22 , ESR of 150 ohms and a Vloss of 30% ! As I was on the way, I've changed all the electrolytic caps. Then the unit work again.
I was wondering why this 4 caps were so bad. Except C3,they physically are located near the L7815CV (+15Vdc) regulator. It has a heat sink. I found this become quite very hot. I've put a temp probe and measure near 80°C ! I've then tried to put a little fan to cool and get max 40°C at normal work, much better. It is right the cooling is not the strong point of UPS's, but with a little modification (I'm on to build), I'm sure this will extend the life of my UPS.
The +15V is mainly use to drive the relays. Current is about 67mA each. At minimum 2 relays are active (up to 4 in boost mode).

@mladen82 : thanks for the service manual.

I've also notice that -15Vdc is around -10Vdc. Do not know if this is right or not. Like Mladen82 explains, there is no regulator for this -15Vdc.

    @Larrymoencurly
There is no diode on the relay's coil, but a 10k resistor.

    Regards,
    Brandi008

Does it have a protection diode across it or the coil? My brother had a car with a relay controlled by a 555, and every few months it would blow its driver transistor rated for 300-400V. No more failures after a 600V diode was soldered across the relay coil.

    I change both MPSA42.
UPS works for now, will test couple of days.

Unfortunately, UPS come back for repair.
    Same problem.

I found that -15V voltage is actually -10.5V. Checked all components in circuit for generating -15V but all seems ok.
I can't find out why this voltage is not good, its not voltage regulated, no regulator, delivered by LM324 op amp probably some pwm configuration.

I doubt that PCB maybe since is double-side have some bad via connections.

ps. i have schematic and service manual so anyone if need, contact by pm.

    Problem solved!
Re-soldered solder joints for all relays on pcb (there are 4 of them). Seems that were cracks in solder. First remove them completely then rework by new soldering.
Also replaced all 22uF/50V and 47uF/63V capacitors.

I have identical problem with this UPS.
I found near all 22uF/50V caps are bad, and one 47uF/63V.
But still problem is exist, no voltage from mains 220V.

Re: Cyber Power 2200E not switching to AC power (0V output)

    Hi.
Sorry to leap on this thread, but I have one of these Value 2200E beasties too.
My problem is that the AVR thinks the mains voltage is wandering between 196VAC and 225VAC. This is causing the thing to do the opposite and energise the inverter.
I suspect it may be a dodgy cap somewhere, BUT, if the board is pressed gently with a plastic rod, I can make the inverter switch on and off. This points to a possibility of a dodgy joint as well, er, or just the Cap.
It would really help to be able to locate a circuit diagram (schematic). If you do not have one available, could you possibly advise where to buy/get one?
I've tried to by one from CPS Europe, but they were not interested in selling one.

Any ideas where to look for the fault, or to get hold of a circuit?
    Thanks,
    Susi.

Re: Cyber Power 2200E not switching to AC power (0V output)

OK, this is what I come up with:
When you apply the AC to the unit, the relay A and B should turn on, relay B and C can be off if the AVR does not kick in, the out will either get the power directly from the L through normally closed contacts of relay C and D or it may select the output form the transformer Black wire if C is ON, or from Yellow wire of the transformer if D is ON. I do not know which one of the transformer wires are for Buck and Boost winding. But as you can see how the L (HOT) get connected to he outlet L.

    Hi,

So here are pics of transformer and wiring:

    Wiring goes like this;

1 - blue, from the AC input
2 - brown, from AC input
3 - blue, (thin) from transformer primary
4 - white, to output sockets
5 - black, from transformer primary
6 - yellow, from transformer primary
7 - black, to output sockets (for soldering on the board)
8 - blue/white wires (on conn) from transformer secondary
    9 - fan
10 - red, (thick) from transformer secondary
11 - brown (thick), from transformer secondary
12 - blue (thick), from transformer secondary
13 - those two thick wires from board goes to the battery

Does anyone have a better clue now what could be wrong here and where to start?

Are all the connectors inside making good contact? I had an APC UPS do this once. The cause was a connector inside that had caught fire and burned up.

Thank you for helping me guys.

    @budm
yes that's the correct UPS and it has AVR function. Relays you were looking are lower two (NOT the two around the buzzer).

    @Elysarian
There is no scorch, but some solder flux traces -that part was repaired i can see it how two resistors and diode nearby are soldered together (note that ups was repaired earlier, before i got it. Don't have any info why and was it working after)

I think that relays are driven by transistors MPSA42 (to-90) which are near relays

If needed, tomorrow i can provide you better pics of wiring with AVR transformer

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
    by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
    by PantherDave
    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
