Just repaired a Variable Speed Motor Drives

I just had to repair a Variable Speed Motor Drives (AC ) that is 12 years old it had two bad cap on the current sensing board 47uf @ 16 volt

This board cost $418.00 and there is a 2 week lead time and a week to get to where I am

If you want to see what the board looks like here is a link where there is a photo of one

    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10372034692&

My BOSS is very happy that I could fix this board until we can get another board to have a spare one

The current sensing modules they are made by Honeywell But I can not find the ones I need

Here is what the problem with this drive was when it cooler in the AM the drive would go in to an ground fault alarm every time you would start the the drive to run the motor

But here is the funny part of this.....>
One cap had a ESR reading .57 @ 80 *F but at about 60 *F then it when to .75 and going higher the other cap was .51@ 80 but at about 60 *F then it when to .70 and going higher

The FR caps 47uf @ 25 volts I put in I did the same test and had a ESR reading .47 @ 80 *F but at about 60 *F then it when to .51 and stay there

This is the second or third time I have seen this type of failure

Great works, ESR of the cap goes down as the temperature goes up, that is why hair dryer is a good tools for finding bad cap with high ESR.

Nescafe Aeroccino, still fails with new Motor (red flashes only once)
      by juergenb
      Hi,

i am asking for some Help.
I have one of these Nescafe Aeroccino (Milk Frother) things with a bad motor.
The Motor didn´t start anymore and internet is full of users just swapping the motor for a Mabuchi RF-500TB-12560.
So i got a few of these from Banggood.

I swapped the motor and now i have a new fault condition.

In a working Frother you would press the start button, it will light red and work for a few minutes.
If you press longer it will light blue and just mixup the milk.

With the new Motor it just starts...

It's 2025: do you know where your 5¼" floppy drives are?
      by eccerr0r
      Oh wow.

As in the other thread I was trying to revive/re-bootstrap an old Apple IIe and wasn't successful reading or writing any disk. Both drives behave similarly.

Then I was wondering, what about my PC floppy drives? I have a HH 5¼" HD drive and a combo 5¼+3½ drive. I tried formatting the disk that wouldn't work in the Apple and it didn't work in the PC either!

Then I tried a HD 5.25 disk ... it won't even touch the disk either! Just like the Apple DD disk, "Not Ready!"

Weird. Seems the PC drive is having trouble clamping...

      Help identify this motor
      by mikey5791
      Hi all forum members,
Found this unknown motor discarded in a junk yard and took home for learning experience. By the look of it, I suspect it is taken out from a type of air blower probably running on ac power. I used digital multimeter on ohm/resistance scale and it doesn't read anything on those 2 black wires. So, this motor is not shorted and should be good to run.

Correct me if i am wrong on the initial test.
Can anyone kindly advice on how to test run this motor based on visible external two black wires. Fyi, i don't see any marking on the motor body nor smell anything...

Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?
      by Per Hansson
      (TL;DR skip the first paragraph)
I encountered my first dead motor run capacitor at a customer this week.
For some fields I guess it is a very common occurrence but the usual way for industrial machines here is to use 3-phase motors.
(Unless a servo motor makes more sense that is).
But for some reason this 3-phase machine uses a 1-phase motor for its liquid coolant pump.
The pump would run but sometimes trip the 10A breaker.
I monitored it starting and stopping for over an hour until it finally stopped in a specific spot between its windings:
      Then it could...

Can SSD's Drives Be Repaired (Data Recovery)
      by Zentech
After reading and watching a few videos online, I noticed that many people who do data recovery believe that you can't recover data from bad SSD drives. Is this true? Why is difficult to recover data from SSDs? They have electronic components just like any other device. Is it b/c there's a key/encryption on a chip that makes replacing parts difficult?
      Thanks
