    Power Supply Q&A

    Hi boys and girls,

In everyone's opinion, what are the best brands of ATX power supplies currently available on the market, in terms of quality of components and longevity? I live in Florida and need to build a PC for my older brother in Boston. While I love to visit, I don't want to make an 1800 mile service call to him. Thanks for the opinions, I do appreciate them!

    Hmm... Tampa?

Threads like this spiral into threads of fan-boyism and unsubstantiated third hand opinions.

Why don't you hit us with some of the features you're looking for, price range, what kind of components this PSU is going to be powering, etc. and we'll go from there.
Rest in peace BFG. You were... a job...

      Hi Lance,

A similar question was asked on https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1607

      See if that helps

        Re: Power Supply Q&A

South of Tampa, just over the Sunshine Skyway. It's a beautiful place to live until hurricane season rolls around (lately anyway).

I'd like to keep the power supply under $100.00 US dollars if at all possible. Uneducated consumers really don't see all the subtle nuances of components that we as a collective have faced (unfortunately).

It will be powering a socket 939 pci-e system. Single core to start, but I would like headroom for dual core later. Only one hard drive, ide rather than sata. Only one optical drive and GOD forbid, only one floppy drive (only for those rare moments).

Essentially, this is going to be a computer for a restaurant. No more than that, but like I said, I'd hate to make an 1800 mile service call.

Please, no fandom. Pure and simple thoughts and respectable opinions.

Thank everyone again for looking, and I'll check out the other thread.

        Peace.

          Sun City or Bradenton, then.

What PCI-e card are you going to use?

Palmetto, actually. Onboard video currently, with the option to go pci-express later if necessary.

Ok. Even if you do one PCI-e card that's powerful enough to need aux power, I know a power supply that's WELL UNDER $100 that is more than enough.

As stated in the other thread, Seventeam makes a good power supply. This bad boy is more than enough:

Other than Seventeam, I like Andyson and Acbel. Unfortunately, they're quite a bit more expensive than this unit.
