I got an Enermax EG465p-VE PSU. I bought it as defective for a few bucks, but it works. As this unit is very old, i want to recap it. The caps used on all my Enermax PSU`S are from the shape, size (very thick, mostly 12,5mm) and values in no way ultra low ESR caps. Compared those with the Frolyt EKR, ERY and ERF series of caps i think they are from the same chemistry (e.g no water based elektrolyt). Now i think, that the Rubycon MCZ aren`t the best way to recap an Enermax, as they are only rated for 2000h (i know that they last longer in an PSu, but it is the contribution tho the water in them), the Frolyt are rated for mutch more (5000 -500000h). I don`t know mutch about Frolyt. But in any way i can get them in Germany. What is your opinion on Frolyt? Of course, i would never use them on a mainboard (exept for some very old ones).
The thing is, i can only get some MCZ, and all Frolyt caps, the UCC and Panasonic are way to expensive here (more than 2€/each) for that thing.
The other question is, how long dos i/p caps last? in my Enermax are two 1000uf 200v pc-tur caps. The unit is probably from 2001/2. Should i replace them too?
