    Fsp250-60pn

An FSP250-60PNA Power Supply with Bad Caps. I will probably re-cap this power supply as soon as i order the replacements. This will be my first Re-Cap so go easy on me.

    List the caps.
    - Make / Series / uF / Volts / Diameter / Approximate Length
From that we can find the Ripple and ESR specs.

    -
While you are at it make a map of the PCB and mark where all the caps are including their polarity. [Cap Map]
It will come in handy later when you forget what came from where or which side of some cap was negative.
On PSU's it's easier if you draw it life-size.

    -
Lacking a tiny inspection mirror. [Which are near impossible to find small enough.]
... For those buggers you can't read the back of take a butter, steak, or exacto knife and polish the 2" of blade nearest the tip up all nice and pretty with some gritty toothpaste. Then use it for a mirror.

My Capacitor knowledge is limited, but i will try my best. I am not sure how to measure the Capacitors though.
      Replacement List:
      Jamicon 3300uf 16v
      teapo 2200uf 16v
      jamicon 330uf 16v
fuhjyyu 1000uf 16 (its a weird size though, slightly thin but taller, but i will just get a standard replacement and mount it on its side.)
Its only 250watt, but its got an acceptable 12v rail amp, so im putting it in a pentium 4 build. Everything else in the power supply looks ok. None of the Capacitors state "Low ESR" so i guess putting a Power Supply rated Cap will be ok.
      My soldering skills are acceptable.
I wont be able to get the Caps till next week though.

That is - Make / uF / Volts.
Still need - Series / Diameter / Approximate Length
        ... to tell you anything.

        - I didn't ask for no reason....

Every Make [Brand] has multiple Series [Models].
The different Series have different specs.

Then even if you have Make / Series / uF / Volts all figured out there can be several different physical sizes which will have different specs because the ESR and Ripple are dependent on the can size [not uF or Volts].
        - Also, if your cap is 8mm then a 10mm or a 12.5mm probably won't fit on the board.

You don't need to measure anything, just read them.

They normally won't say Low ESR on them.
That is in the data sheets, which I can't find without a Series name.

Using caps with ESR too far from the original can send the Ripple in PSU's output right through the roof.
IC chips don't work very well [or sometimes at all] with AC Noise in their DC power.

        -
None of those are good brands and Fuhjyyu are down right scary.

          Ok.
          Jamicon TK 3300uf 10v 30mm x 10mm
          Fuhjyyu TNR 1000uf 16v 24mm x 8mm
          Jamicon TK 330uf 16v 7mm x 7mm
TEAPO (the capacitor looks like it burnt so i cant read the series) 2200uf 16v 30mm x 10mm

What color is the Teapo's sleeve?
Guessing Baby Blue, Brown, or Green?

OH GOODIE - ALL custom sizes!
I'll have to guestimate based on the other caps in these series and the can sizes and what is typical in PSU's.

              What country are you in?
              - So I can suggest parts sources and see if they stock the needed caps.

Will a 12.5mm physically fit where that 3300uF Jamicon TK is?

[Gives more replacement options if it will.]

Okay that's an old Teapo series FSP used to like.
I'll have to dig through some lists for rebuilds I've done to remember the series name.
                  Be back in a bit.

Hi. I will check to see if the capacitors will fit tonight, as I am busy today.
The TEAPO has what looks to be, a pale green sleeving.
I live in the U.K so it might be hard to order here, but im not sure.
Thanks for all of your help, mcdaydavies.

I've seen those but I don't remember what they are.
See if you can find a series mark.
