    HP KVM 336045-B21 (avocent)

Ive got two of these KVM units both of which have DVE DSO-142L PSU units with bad caps.

The unit is a rebranded Avocent so suspect they also have the same issue.

Im currently getting this fixed by a friend who designed PSUs, he is uprating some of the caps.

As many it seems they used CrapXon caps.

Ile report if the unit comes back fixed.

Let me know how this turns out as I am trying to fix one myself and so far all I have done is replace the 220uf 10v and the 470uf 10v as they were both bulged and that did not do the trick.

Me too, just changed those same two caps on a Dell KVM (2160 I think it is), and it's still dead - apply mains and the green power LED still doesn't come on

Any ideas on how to go about testing the LM7905 regulator and the Schottky diode on there?

Pictures of the boards would help. The LM7905 has ground on pin 1 (marked with a dot) and output on pin 3. DMM should show -5V or 5V, depending on the order of the leads.

I have repaired several of these PSU's and I found the 47uf 25v when tested with an ESR meter had no reading. After replacing this capacitor in the primary side as well as all the capacitors in the secondary side (three 470uf 10v and one 2200uf 10v) the PSU worked perfectly again.

          Hope this helps.

Thanks. Replacing all five capacitors worked for me as well. It did not work when I had only replaced the two caps mentioned earlier in this thread. But the picture in that post helped tremendously.

Apologize the picture was from another forum. Attaching it here.

I am having a hard time sourcing the Caps listed in the previously attached schematic. Could anyone provide some help?

I'm also working on replacing the caps on one of these power supplies. It was in a HP EO1013 KVM. My main question is, does anyone know what part (or compatible part) is the 30c02098-01 part? I believe it is a "noise filter"? Mine appears to be leaking. The giant cap seems to be okay. I see at least one of the smaller ones bulging. Picture attached of the part in question.

                  Thanks!

The stuff that is leaking is amber color to the right of the arrow.

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!

I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

                        Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
                        by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
                        by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

Garage door RX unit (Cardin S38C) does not short relay to send opening signal
                        by CoinCoin88
                        Hello everyone,

I'm turning to the Badcaps community to help me troubleshoot the radio Rx card from my (old) garage door opener. While I could just ditch that card and replace the whole system, I first would like to understand "why" it suddenly stopped working, because that's just how I am wired...!

Some basics: the receiver works on a 30.875 Mhz frequency. Yes, I'm aware this is not in use anymore in a looot of places. It does not use any rolling code, it's just a regular dip-switch code that you have to set up on both the receiver and transmitter. The receiver...

                        by DrDos
I have finished my work. The new lights come on except the one for stereo, I reversed the bulbs to no affect, anyway, the unit powers on, relay clicks. I have no DC voltage in speaker outputs, I also do not have any AC in the speaker outputs. There is some faint crackling in the speaker. This unit cranks up loud so I had the volume on very low. Everything seems to be fine but I can't really check the switch until I can get sound out of the outputs. I was going to do caps for the power supplys and the tone board but thought if it was cranking loud at one time maybe just leave it alone until it...
