tylerlough; that is true in the US

In Sweden it's exactly the other way around, Volvo and Saab cars are more reliable than the Japanese cars... But I get your point...

I think the way to gauge a PSU is to look at it's underside, if it looks like it was soldered by a 3 year old it probably was (no phun intended) If it looks like the underside of your mainboard then you have found a good quality PSU. Put some good caps in it and it should work for a long time...

$30 for a 400W power supply is cheap, it could be over-rated. Get this one:

Hipro is cheap, they are light power supplies (though a bit heavier than a L&C power supply) and HP and Compaq now use them for power supplies in their systems. I even saw an HP Pentium D system use a Hipro 300W power supply, I don't think they care much about the power supply.

holy crap I just looked looked up the UL listing and it is a L&C and it has lasted for two years. I'll just black mail my parents in to getting a new quality PSU by say if you don't buy this your house might just burn down from the computer and a new one would be more efficent. Think it'll work.

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
              by mikey5791
              Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

OCZ Powerstream PSU (Fuhjyyu 3300uF 10V)
              by Kleist
              Hello,

I have an old OCZ Powerstream 520W PSU I would like to keep using. It works currently, but I opened it up and found some bulging caps which have me worried, I would like to replace these. There are:

              4x Fuhjyyu 3300uF 10V

What could I replace these with? Where could I buy replacements that ship to Germany?

              Thanks!...

              Fuhjyyu 3300uF 35V TNR Replacement
              by golfather
              Hi all

Currently have a slight hum coming from my PC speakers when power is connected. Not audible when music is high volume but only on low volumes you can hear it in the background. Have a ferrite core on power lead but no difference.

System is a TEAC Powermax 1300 - same as Hercules XPS2.100 system

Checked the caps visually but none are bulging

Have been advised to change the main rectifier cap which is currently a Fuhjyyu 3300uF 35V 18x32mm (not sure what pitch, probably 7.5mm)

Is there a decent replacement anyone can...

I have 2 of these. This one had no Standby Power when measured. For a cheap PSU this has a great many components on the PCB. Many tiny resistors etc. in the secondary.

I found one domed cap in the secondary and the PS-ON green wire looks to be damaged by arcing where it enters the PCB.

The third picture shows the arcing on the green PS-ON wire, and the second last shows the doming on the capacitor between the two toroids.
