    Power supply in plasma T.V

    Hi guys/girls,

I'm totally new to the forum so I do hope this is posted in the right section. Apologies if not. Basically my issue is my samsung plasma tv. It started radomly turning itself off then getting stuck in an almost boot-up like cycle. Sometimes starting up then 2mins later restarting. After a bit of research on the net I've come to the conclusion it is highly likely to be the power supply board and quite possibly a bad capacitor. I've removed the back of the tv and located the power supply board. I'm trying to find which of the capacitors could be the issue. None of them show the tell tale signs in which you describe as a bad cap. The only one I can see that is different is one that has a green stain on the top (only small stain). I know this is mainly for p.c's on here but I'm guessing the boards work around the same basic principles. Any help would be much appreciated or just a shove in the right direction.
    Thanks in advance
    steve

I think the green stain is from a marker. What brand are the capacitors?
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Your best bet is to post some good photos to this forum of the board and anything else that looks suspect/interesting.

              CapXon...

Eventhough they are not deformed or bulged if you will, replace them.

Shame on Samsung for using CapXon. Darned Korean garbage.

should i just replace the lot? Could you reccomend a decent brand to use? and finally does this sound like a possible cause to my problem?

Decent brands are listed in the FAQ section.

What you need to do however is make sure you get the ESR and Ripple Current rating correct.

What series are your CapXon? It should be written on them, two letters in capitals.

                        1) It would help to know the model number of your Samsung.

                        2) Head over to the "Troubleshooting TVs and Video Sources" section and look for posts by PlainBill and Samsung plasma TVs. Pay particular to attention to the troubleshooting advice and techniques.

                        3) Find the service manual for your Samsung.

                        4) Take voltage readings and compare to service manual.
