    TNY266 flyback switcher

    Hello again,

I'm in the process of putting together a "UV exposer" with a MAX1698A led driver, and i've decided to supply it from a 5vsb section "grafted" from an HP power supply, based on a TNY266 chip.

The schematic i'm using is attached below. Now, the switcher is definitely working (scoped it out), and on the 220u filter cap, from the aux primary winding, i'm getting 14-17v. Trouble is, for some reason, the chip is on minimum duty cycle, and on the secondary, i'm getting some tiny blips (which i'm not even sure are enough to open the rectifier schottky). I also changed the optocoupler, same thing.

I wonder if the coil i'm using is a bit too big (180uH), but... Should / could that affect things quite like that? Secondary caps are two 1500uH/6.3v Nichicon HD. I also tacked on a 51ohm resistor as a ~100mA minimum load. Nothing else is mounted on the board (so just supply-related components).

    Could the TL431 be bad?

    Re: TNY266 flyback switcher

wouldnt it be a lot simpler to use a clockwork switch?
i know it's like archialogical period tech, but it's designed for what your after.

Faulty CRT AKF12/Philips CM8500: bad flyback?
      by tony359
      Hi all,

I have a CRT (Acorn AKF12, based on the 240V version of the Philips CM8500) which has stopped working. It's making a high pitched noise but not too high. I know this is symptom of a faulty flyback.

What happens when a flyback fails? I see that the main voltages out of the PSU are not reaching rated values, as if there is a short.
There are supposed to be 125V/26.5V/15.5V outputs but I am reading something like 48V, 10V and 8V. If I unplug the PSU from the rest of the PCB, I can measure the expected values.

Can it be a short somewhere...

Looking for a flyback transformer for an Eizo TX-C7 MA-791 17" CRT
      by retrotechrestoration

I just saved this magnificent RGB input Eizo Flexscan TX-C7 MA-791 from the local e-waste...good news, the tube works and the board looks great...the bad news, it sounds like the flyback is shorted. (Turns on...perfect picture...systemic high voltage crackling heard while the picture flickers...then it blows the 5A fuse in my isolated A/C power supply.)

Anyone have any leads on possibly finding a replacement? (photo shows the flyback model numbers)...

Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
      by hinisa
I'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.

When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.

After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:

Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either it freezes during...

Sony Dav-dz350 no power on secondary
      by sarry86
Hi guys, I have this power supply which has a problem providing power on the secondary portion, seems like there's no power past the transformers, I checked the PFF4N80 which had shorted and replaced it with a new one, I then checked the optocoupler part and found that the TL341 IC too had shorted out so I replaced it with a new one as well, I measured everything on the secondary side of my power supply and I found a 1N5819 diode shorted, I replaced it with a new one, nothing else seem to have a problem, I am out of ideas, please anyone help me out what should I look after...

      by TAlbeniz
      Hello everyone

I am new in this forum and I need your advice. I would like to fix my grandpa tv which is LG tv 14FU7RB. I already did some research according to the board. I already measured the voltage in primary and secondary block. primary elco in primary section is 300v. STR IC pin 4 vcc 9 volt but in secondary section every dioda that supply dv voltage like 9 volt 5 volt 5 volt standby and even B+ for flyback doesnt have any voltage come out. if you guys know how to solve please help me. I want to learn to fix this TV since I am still newbie ij this kind of stuff....
