    adjusting a 12V inverter to 24V

Anyone hacked a 12V inverter for use at 24V?
Wonder how much of a problem it is to do such. Other than the fan that seems to be a 12V unit that will need to be replaced with a 24V unit, as well as input filter capacitors that tend to be rated at 16 to 25V that will likely need to be increased to at least 35V, any other possible issues that need to be addressed?

you probably need to look at the circuit,
how does it power the control circuits? does it use a chip etc.

Never tried such a thing. But just thinking about it, I don’t think it is going to be simple.
Besides the caps, what about the mosfets, transformers etc.?

looking at prices for new ones 12 and 24 are same price so guess they aren't too different inside

          Re: adjusting a 12V inverter to 24V

I suppose I am targeting the chip based SMPS ones, and not the dumb inverters like the Heathkit MP-10 which are more problematic. hoping for a bit of a efficiency improvement - but more of just trying to sort of unify all electrical backup equipment without buying anything...

those old Heathkit MP-10 would require a transformer rewind, but hoping SMPS could just deal with it by changing duty cycle ...

I think you are going to be in for more than just the duty cycle and a few caps.

Haven't tried pumping to 24V but I have a 300W inverter that I ran 18V.... fan was roaring (since it was a 12V unit) but at least it worked...
I don't know yet what happens if I tried upwards 32V... magic smoke release maybe...

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
                      by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
                      by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

Garage door RX unit (Cardin S38C) does not short relay to send opening signal
                      by CoinCoin88
                      Hello everyone,

I'm turning to the Badcaps community to help me troubleshoot the radio Rx card from my (old) garage door opener. While I could just ditch that card and replace the whole system, I first would like to understand "why" it suddenly stopped working, because that's just how I am wired...!

Some basics: the receiver works on a 30.875 Mhz frequency. Yes, I'm aware this is not in use anymore in a looot of places. It does not use any rolling code, it's just a regular dip-switch code that you have to set up on both the receiver and transmitter. The receiver...

                      by DrDos
I have finished my work. The new lights come on except the one for stereo, I reversed the bulbs to no affect, anyway, the unit powers on, relay clicks. I have no DC voltage in speaker outputs, I also do not have any AC in the speaker outputs. There is some faint crackling in the speaker. This unit cranks up loud so I had the volume on very low. Everything seems to be fine but I can't really check the switch until I can get sound out of the outputs. I was going to do caps for the power supplys and the tone board but thought if it was cranking loud at one time maybe just leave it alone until it...

I have a tripp-lite aspint 3636vr inverter charger which blow some of mosfet transistors. I replaced them repaired also the driver circuit and tested but the mosfets burn again.

It work very well as inverter and also as charger if I let the rear switch in auto mode (inverter) and charger only(charging) but in auto when I connect the feed line 220V AC first time it pass ok to line and start charging the batteries but when I remove the feed line it pass to inverter mode and if I do it again the second time when passing from charging to inverter the Main transformer start making a...
