Going to recap this atx power supply

Its an EVER. 300w. Doesnt work. I hooked it up to a thermaltake psu tester which flickered on and off when on. So i popped it open, and founf that 6 2200uf 10v caps were leaky. (the brand with a big c with an s inside). I am however rather surprised about the quality of the inpu filter. There are coils and x and y caps. And the heatsinks are bigger than i expected (still small tho). So i will see if i have suitable caps for replacement.
    The two real questions:
    1. Are the "cs" caps junk?
    2. Should i replace the primaries 2 680uf 200v "cs"
    3. There is only 1 cap on the 12v rail. Its a 3300uf 16v g-luxon. Is that a good brand

    1. Not the worse but yes they are bad.
    2. The primary caps rarely fail, but I have found fuhjyyu primaries that were completely dried (and made the antec psu short), yc caps rated 330uF with 220uf real capacitance and I had bad luck with "CS" primaries as well: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...37&postcount=1
    3. G-luxon and Teapo are the same company since 2005 if I remember correct. The original G-Luxon caps have bad reputation here.

Please post some photos of the psu.

Unless it has places for pi filter coils, i wouldn't bother with it if it has only one cap on 12v. All that ripple on one single cap means that no matter what you put in there it will go bad eventually.

            What about a poly cap?

This psu is old. Older design had only 1 cap at 12V, because back at the time, that line wasn't so important (pentium 3 and athlon used +5V).

In your place I would look for the 12V rectifier to find how many amp it can do. Usually that is 12A, 16A or 20A if you are lucky.

If there is a pi filter coil for 12V I think it will be ok if you put there an excellent quality cap. Personally I use Panasonic FM 16V 3300uF with no problem.
