i have a power supply board out of a Compaq lcd and it has what i think is a ceramic smd capacitor with the markings of 7.5 B or 8 2u any ideal what they mean or what size it is it looks like it got really hot most of the electrolytic caps are bad vented it works intermediately here are a couple of pics of the board not very good quality though

It looks like you got some nice burn marks on that board. Too bad the pics are fuzzy. The only thing I can instruct you to do right now is to check solder joints near the burn marks and try to find out which component made it burn this bad. My gut tells me that a surface mount cap cant heat up this much. Please take better, clearer pictures of the boards and re-post using the "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" on the posting page. From the labels, it looks like the burned component was ZD984, which would be a zener diode. The component looks polarized, because it has a band on one side. The 7.5 could be the zener voltage, and the B could be the tolerance code. Look at the bad solder joint directly to the left of the burned component. If you don't have a service manual, it might be worth tracing out the surrounding circuitry to try and understand it and discover what the root failure was.Comment

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...
The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

by Tom41I have an AOC U27G3X 4K gaming monitor that I use both as a TV and for gaming on a Nintendo Switch 2 console. Recently, something very strange has been happening to it. After playing a game that has an on-screen timer for a few minutes, the last digit of the timer (the one rapidly flickering from 0 to 9) appears to burn in on the monitor. Going to a different source or power cycling the monitor does not help; there is a constant flickering area on the screen where that digit was.
It seems strange that only that digit would burn in, and NOT the other digits that are changing less frequently....-

by howardc64Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
- Backlight on, no image
- Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
- Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
- Buffer board is pretty simple

by jasonbay13it was working yesterday, i opened it up and saw this mess. boardview and schematic uploaded for convenience.

pin 17 vreg5 = 0v ~ solder joint was corroded and flicked right off with my probe, was able to get clean and reflow, rest look fine.
pin 8 vreg3 = 0v
pin 13 en = .2v
pin 1,6 entrip1,2 = 0v
b+ and b++ = 19.5v
+5valw = 0v & 25+ohm to ground
+3valwp = 0v & 25+ohm to ground
i cleaned the board up just a little and can get more pics.

I read that this sio MEC1515 must be programmed, but someone says dont. My Vertyanov seems dont have this model in it.
Laptop works and can be tricked by split pwm, but i dont want to do this stuff this way.
