i have a power supply board out of a Compaq lcd and it has what i think is a ceramic smd capacitor with the markings of 7.5 B or 8 2u any ideal what they mean or what size it is it looks like it got really hot most of the electrolytic caps are bad vented it works intermediately here are a couple of pics of the board not very good quality though

It looks like you got some nice burn marks on that board. Too bad the pics are fuzzy. The only thing I can instruct you to do right now is to check solder joints near the burn marks and try to find out which component made it burn this bad. My gut tells me that a surface mount cap cant heat up this much. Please take better, clearer pictures of the boards and re-post using the "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" on the posting page. From the labels, it looks like the burned component was ZD984, which would be a zener diode. The component looks polarized, because it has a band on one side. The 7.5 could be the zener voltage, and the B could be the tolerance code. Look at the bad solder joint directly to the left of the burned component. If you don't have a service manual, it might be worth tracing out the surrounding circuitry to try and understand it and discover what the root failure was.Comment

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...
The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply .
I have a Westinghouse LED TV, model WD48FAB100 that is not powering on. Upon removing the back cover, I noticed a burn mark where the AC cord connects to the power supply/main board. In this model, there is only one board combining the two functions. Previous owner said the TV experienced a lightening strike, but who knows. I checked the main fuse, tested OK. Here are a collection of readings from the power supply ports. Looking for some guidance on what to test/check next.... -
I have a Sony 75x940e that I just fixed with the help of the forum (bad emmc). For the last couple of months I was noticing some burn in of the android home icons on dark backgrounds (photo is attached). I always thought VA panels were immune to burn ins. I have a Dell E5470 that powers up and boots windows no problem. Using a non-standard universal type charger, it shuts down immediately if moved, (power short in that charger or AC power jack) because the battery has no charge and isn't charging orange/white lights blinking on the front. When first powered up, BIOS power alarm stated that it could not detect the voltage setting and I had to dis-able the message to get past this. It got into Windows fine, as long as not moved, so I dis-assembled it looking for a cold solder joint on the power jack that I thought might be lifting off the MB, but... -
Hello!
I'm a few days old into this TV screens repair universe so please bear with me.
Recently, and all of a sudden my 40” 4K Sharp Aquos LCD TV turned on with colors all smudged in some places on the screen that remain like that even without any kind of video source. I do have image but the colors are smudged/tinted/ washed out in patches as per defects. This to me looks similar to burn in but I’m shore this is not an OLED.
- I did the classic unplug and hold power button to discharge the caps but it didn't help.
- I did a factory reset as well...
