I have an AOC U27G3X 4K gaming monitor that I use both as a TV and for gaming on a Nintendo Switch 2 console. Recently, something very strange has been happening to it. After playing a game that has an on-screen timer for a few minutes, the last digit of the timer (the one rapidly flickering from 0 to 9) appears to burn in on the monitor. Going to a different source or power cycling the monitor does not help; there is a constant flickering area on the screen where that digit was.
It seems strange that only that digit would burn in, and NOT the other digits that are changing less frequently. Is there some setting I can change to avoid this happening, or is the monitor permanently damaged?
Note: The flickering is much more noticeable on the camera than it is to the naked eye.

But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
