Is this enough information hoaca388? And do you know if anything can be done?
Is it possible to use another flash file with the same suffix or something? Could a update file from Dell be used? I am at the moment waiting for a hopefully better tool cable than the one I initially used that didn't quite fit the chip so I had to bend the pins fairly much to get it to connect to the pins on the chip and that wasn't so smart since the pins on the tool it self broke off I noticed after I had finished.
I have now ordered this one that seem to be a bit better built. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...-specification

If anyone could help out I would really appreciate it.

I inherited a Dell that had Admin locked in BIOS.

So managed to find my way to this forum and found excellent guides on how to read the bios using a reader, edit the file to remove the password and then save the file back to the chip.
COOL, so got my self a CH341A, modded it to 3.3V and connected the tool, same as this but from other supplier
    https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm...0602261764&mt=

So I read the BIOS, save it to HDD, modded the file, wrote it back to the chip. And the computer does nothing after pushing power button.
(Yes I had power out, battery out and BIOS battery out when working inside. )
My problem is I missed the part where you are supposed to dump more than once, verify the images before starting to work on the file.

It seem to me that the file I got from my BIOS was corrupt at least partly and the file I therefore wrote back to the chip is also corrupt. Stupid rookie mistake.

Now my question is, can the computer still be saved? Could another BIOS dump be written to my chip and get the laptop working? Could a BIOS update file be used from Dell?

Please, if any of you total gurus on this forum could try to help I would appreciate it.

Dell Latitude 5400 Chromebook UEFI bios
    by jhanra
Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...
