• I am attaching my 2 bios files, the dump (that might be corrupt) and the fixed file that I have tried to restore back to the chip. However the computer doesn't give a beep or blink when reattching cmos battery and main battery, hooking up power supply through USB-C adapter. I have no clue if my bios dump is corrupt and that's the reason for the laptop not even showing Dell logo or what could be wrong.
8FC8_4_Cleared.bin cleared from BIOS passwords
8FC8_4_Cleared_FCFD.bin cleared from bios password and factory deafaulted
8FC8_original.bin original dump from bios chip, untouched...

• Is this enough information hoaca388? And do you know if anything can be done?
Is it possible to use another flash file with the same suffix or something? Could a update file from Dell be used? I am at the moment waiting for a hopefully better tool cable than the one I initially used that didn't quite fit the chip so I had to bend the pins fairly much to get it to connect to the pins on the chip and that wasn't so smart since the pins on the tool it self broke off I noticed after I had finished.
I have now ordered this one that seem to be a bit better built. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008083808809.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.401cgWqZgWqZ3U&mp=1#nav-specification...

• Hello all,
I have no idea if anything can be done but thought I would through out the question at least.

I inherited a Dell that had Admin locked in BIOS.

So managed to find my way to this forum and found excellent guides on how to read the bios using a reader, edit the file to remove the password and then save the file back to the chip.
COOL, so got my self a CH341A, modded it to 3.3V and connected the tool, same as this but from other supplier

• Hello all,

I call my self (and is called by others) Screemer on the net.
I work with IT and I totally love computers and technology.
At the present I am trying to get a Dell latitude 5420 8FC8 to run after giving it a really bad bios flash.

I "think" I managed to fail on read of the original bios, modded it to remove Admin password and reflashed and now it's totally dead.

Other than that I am 54 years old, work to much, love to play computergames like Lord Of The Rings Online, old DOOM, old QUAKE, original Wolfenstein and so on.
