If your model is newer and not in that list, you need to dump your bios, remove password from dump and reprogram bios with modified dump.

For that you need an SPI programmer like CH341A or Raspberry Pi with Flashrom or any other similar programmer. A soic8 clip is also useful so there wouldn't be a need to unsolder bios IC.

When you have your dump, just drag and drop your file on my HPUnlocker tool and it will create a new file. It will add "_unlocked" to the name of your locked file.

Just program the new file on your bios IC.

This unlocker should work on all Elite, EliteBook, ProBook and maybe some other series HP laptops.

For those of you who need to unlock large amounts of laptops, I recommend adding a registry entry:
    Code:
    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\HPUnlocker\command
    Then modify that string adding
    Code:
    "C:\*location-of-exe*\HPUnlocker.exe" "%1"
This way you just need to right click your locked file and select HPUnlocker.

If there are any issues, please do let me know so I can improve this tool.

All Elitebooks, Probooks and zbooks which are up to ninth generation which should be up to year 2018, like 840 G5, are supported. Newer models are not supported (yet atleast).

No Pavilions or other trash is supported

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
NEW multitool and unlocker added .

    Unlocking
HP - ProBook, EliteBook, ZBook (including 32MB models)
    Chromebooks from all various manufacturers
Apple - everything older than T2
    More to come...

    RCUnlocker https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=98539
    .
thanks so much brorther ,god bless you

do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

you need an SPI programmer...here is a video for example..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWi...nnel=ThisIsHow

SMDFlea I do not have CH programmer yet for flashing. The backup I have is previous BIOS done by the official updater.
Will that work? I have read a about the patch you mentioned. Just want to know if you talking about programmer backup or the normal update backup.

Try to reset your bios backup to factory settings then reflash the bios, and at 1st boot press F10 and RESET BIOS to factory defaults https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...y-bios-patcher

Use BCU 4.0 (Bios Config Utility) under cmd.
biosconfigutility /get:1.txt and in 1.txt modify Manufacturing Programming Mode from *Lock to *Unlock (erase *from Lock and put it to Unock) save file as 2.txt and use biosconfigutility /set:2.txt then restart.

    Hello,

I am trying to remove the BIOS lock of an HP elitebook 840-G8.

I have all tool & software (CH341A, RCUnlocker, AS-Programmer) available and working.

Since I don't have a suitable soldering station, I try to avoid soldering out the bios chip.

With a Wson-chip adapter, I read out the correct bios chip W25Q128JV on the motherboard, which is tricky.

Nevertheless I managed till now to read out the bios chip 8 times. Unfortinally all bios binaries are different, because of the of different CRC32 on the AS-Programmer. That is not suppriesing me.

Curiously the Unlocker tool works for all the different binaries.

The question is how to find the correct binary? Maybe the security mechanism use only a small memory part of the bios chip and the rest of the memory doesn't matter.

Has somebody experience with the topic, respectively any suggestions?

    Br

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
    by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Notice to users of XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76 programmers regarding BIOS backup file size
    by m1ch43lzm
    Hi everyone
I noticed on the Xgpro software the BIOS backup files have extra bytes at the end when reading some chips, this is because the Xgpro software also reads the OTP region of those flash chips, and by default will append that region to the saved file
    Programmer models: XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76

Example: GD25LQ128D (1.8V), IC size is listed as 0x1000000 Bytes (16777216 bytes) + 0xC00 bytes, those extra 0xC00 bytes will be appended to the end of the saved file by default, resulting in a file size of 16780288 bytes
There's also an extra OTP Secu.R...

Lenovo ThinkStation P520 BIOS file needed
    by Forest79
    Hello,

I got a Lenovo ThinkStation P520 (Type 30BF) from a friend, asking me for a repair. Windows 11 offered a firmware upgrade as an optional update, and it failed.
The emergency flash procedure from the hardware manual has also failed. So, I asked an acquaintance with better skills to flash the BIOS directly.

However, the chip (a Macronix MX25L25673GMI-08G) has a size of 32 MB, and the BIOS file from the Lenovo website (extracted with UEFITool) has a little more than 16 MB. Thus, the software my acquaintance used (SiberiaProg v1.45, with a CH341A Programmer)...
