    X1 Carbon 5th Gen - Skylake (Type 20K4, 20K3)

    Hello all,

I have been given a Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Gen - Skylake (Type 20K4, 20K3) which I think has a corrupted bios. I believe someone previously attempted to remove SVP and startup error 0199 and did not flash with correct files.

When attempting to power on now, the LED's flash on and then straight off, nothing further happens from there.

So I am able to connect and dump with CH341A and AsProgrammer (although dumps are only 1mb) - I was expecting them to be 8mb (WINBOND bios).

I have tried to flash with original bios from Lenovo Support, but have been unsuccessful. I have looked through the form and cannot find one that would help me restore.

Does anyone have a valid bios for this that I can try to get it up and running again or guide me through steps to recover.

    Thanks

Help Disabling Flash Protection Range Registers on Lenovo P360 Tiny BIOS
        by abhorsen
        Hey guys,

Hope you all are doing well. I come here from Win-Raid because I am having issues disabling Flash Protection Range Registers so I can flash my BIOS from within Windows using Intel's IFW tool/using flashrom within Linux, however I cannot due to the above mentioned error.

Here is my thread on Win-Raid detailing the whole process I went through: https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/re...h-gen/95478/27

Essentially I managed to boot into Windows while shorting PINs 1+5 of my audio chip to disable the HAP bit...

Dell Optiplex 7010 micro bad BIOS flash?
        by mrrubik
        Hi folks,

I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro PC (Exact Model) with 8FC8 BIOS and locked out admin password. I attempted to remove the password by patching the BIOS via info from this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ssword-patcher
After flashing the patched the BIOS, the PC is unresponsive with a solid AMBER power LED (not documented in manual anywhere)

        Steps I took:
        1. Read BIOS with CH341a, verified hash twice
        2. Patched
        ...

Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th Gen Type 20R1 BIOS DUMP
        by mrkmpn
        Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th Gen Type 20R1
        SN: PF1Y5BBJ
        Board: GX490 NM-C661 Rev: 1.0

I have made two dumps of this bios, with the bios chip removed from the board and the hashes match on both dumps, but I cannot find the DMI information in the dumps except for the Windows product key, so I think it is corrupted. I have downloaded two bios updates from the Lenovo support site, but they contain small .PAT file, and 4 subfolders containing .FL1 and .FL2 files, which I don't understand enough to figure out how to use to fix my dump.

The problem with the laptop is that...

I believe Chip 2 is BIN is the main one as it contained the Windows product key, marked with XXXXX for now.

        SN: PF3G1REP
        MODEL: 20KW-00J1AU

PROBLEM: Turns on blank screen, charging circuitry motherboard looks good. I have tried another firmware here - but resulted in 5V will not go to 20v due to different PD firmware I believe - using the current firmware it does go to 20V.

Requesting a firmware clean/BIOS region cleaned. Here is output from ME Analyzer:
