I was experimenting on a T490s that has no password but absolute activated. I want to disable it of course. I thought it would be in the MEC1663 but I was wrong as I know with password reset with the MEC trick works to gets rid of Absolute or Computrace on other models. Secondly examining the last request original BIOS and fix applied by volinakis and hoaca388. I decided to compare my BIOS image and make the two adjustments I see in the fix with no luck. Am I missing something here? Or is the value different per activation and deactivation?

My untouched BIOS image before I made changes.

there are too many AbtState invalidated. It should have worked since AbtState is invalidated, i did tens of lenovos in that way. Did you enter in bios setup to Security-Absolute and disable it? Remove CMOS battery if you forget to do it and press power button for 30s, start laptop without battery.

I take it back. It worked. For some reason this morning I managed to have it boot without the Absolute activated before I was about to try your suggestions. Strange, but happy nontheless. Thanks for the help!

Now to make my day brighter, I hope to get this E15 working after a botched BIOS update.

Ok, so I attempted to modify another BIOS with the same AbtState enabled. I thought it would be easy to modify though UEFItools but of course the option is greyed out. The older UEFItools I've used can extract but it's not as simple as the HEX view from the newer version as it isolates that particular item. I've looked at other posts about how to change this option AA553F to AA553C , but I have noticed from Hexviewer that this option is not always located near the AbtState or it may not be for AbtState at all. My head hurts between this and a E15 Bios issue.

I hate asking for help, but I would greatly appreciate a fix for one more laptop. I want to learn, and I spent a good 3 hours last night at home in front of the screen to find how to go about this. Every time it seems easy on a post, my results are different. I know it will be a slap in the forehead once it clicks on how to do and it's probably pretty easy, but for now I wave the white flag.

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Good day. I apologize if I posted this in the wrong topic. I saw somebody selling a Thinkpad E495 with a Ryzen 3500U CPU near me. In the pictures the laptop is running windows 10. I contacted the seller and asked a few questions about upgradability and if it has a bios password on it. He confirmed it has a bios password. I searched through the forum, I found a guide regarding removing the bios password using the autopatcher, I also found a thread with the e495 where people requested help with unlocking the bios password.

                                          I have a few questions:

                                          Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                          Good day, everyone!

I'm encountering an issue with my Lenovo X1 Yoga 5th Gen laptop related to the BIOS supervisor password. I'm seeking assistance and guidance from the knowledgeable members of this community in resolving this problem.

I am no expert and cannot perform soldering or unsoldering of the chip from the board. Therefore, I attempted to use an EZP 2023 programmer with a clip to extract the BIOS bin file without removing the BIOS chip from the motherboard. The BIOS chip has the following letters imprinted on it: "Winbond 25Q80DVNIG 2026". I used the...

                                          Hello all,

I'm trying desperately to revive a ThinkStation P720 that I purchased from a seller who claims it suffered a "failed firmware update."

When given power, the machine turns on, spins up fans, beeps a single time, fans slow down, then a beep code is sounded repeatedly (3 high/short tones, 1 low/long tone).

                                          Things I have tried:

                                          1. Reseated all components, pulled everything except for 2 RAM modules (1 per CPU)
                                          2. Attempted to boot with just a single CPU...
