remove CMOS battery, that's why you weren't able to disable Absolute from bios setup. At 1st boot enter bios setup Security-Absolute (somemtime Computrace) and permanently disable it.

Thanks Volinakis, I will follow your recommendations. I'm sure it will work like the last one.

This was where I am puzzled as I looked at the original BIOS file through HxD and what I though was the enable and disable for AbtState, but it already has AA553C instead of AA5533F. I thought this was for another option that was mixed in. Under UEFItools it showed it as it should so this is why I was getting a headache.

Alright, after examining your screenshot, I gave HxD a shot again. With the search I should have used the "search all" feature which gave me 4 results. One of them had the AA5533F. This was probably one I should have tended to when I attempted to do the fix myself. Like they say, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

    Thanks again!

The older UEFItools I've used can extract but it's not as simple as the HEX view from the newer version as it isolates that particular item. I've looked at other posts about how to change this option AA553F to AA553C , but I have noticed from Hexviewer that this option is not always located near the AbtState or it may not be for AbtState at all. My head hurts between this and a E15 Bios issue.

I hate asking for help, but I would greatly appreciate a fix for one more laptop. I want to learn, and I spent a good 3 hours last night at home in front of the screen to find how to go about this. Every time it seems easy on a post, my results are different. I know it will be a slap in the forehead once it clicks on how to do and it's probably pretty easy, but for now I wave the white flag.

I take it back. It worked. For some reason this morning I managed to have it boot without the Absolute activated before I was about to try your suggestions. Strange, but happy nontheless. Thanks for the help!

Now to make my day brighter, I hope to get this E15 working after a botched BIOS update.

Secondly examining the last request original BIOS and fix applied by volinakis and hoaca388. I decided to compare my BIOS image and make the two adjustments I see in the fix with no luck. Am I missing something here? Or is the value different per activation and deactivation?

My untouched BIOS image before I made changes.

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
    by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Should I buy a Lenovo Thinkpad E495 with bios password?
    by RMDUiFT
Good day. I apologize if I posted this in the wrong topic. I saw somebody selling a Thinkpad E495 with a Ryzen 3500U CPU near me. In the pictures the laptop is running windows 10. I contacted the seller and asked a few questions about upgradability and if it has a bios password on it. He confirmed it has a bios password. I searched through the forum, I found a guide regarding removing the bios password using the autopatcher, I also found a thread with the e495 where people requested help with unlocking the bios password.

    I have a few questions:
    • If I would buy this laptop and have

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
    by Wahaz
    Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

    Problem:
I am attempting to remove the WWAN card whitelist from my Lenovo ThinkPad T560.
    Initial Findings:
    • My current BIOS version is N1KET58W (1.45).
    • I have a CH341A programmer and have successfully created two full backups of my BIOS.
    • I have the ability to use command-line tools on a Linux machine.
    Troubleshooting Steps & Conclusions:
    • I attempted to use several automated and manual patching methods on my N1KET58W (1.45) BIOS, including using hex strings. These attempts all failed.
    • I concluded that the

Help needed in unlocking BIOS Supervisor password - Lenovo X1 Yoga 5th Gen
    by baaligoga
    Good day, everyone!

I'm encountering an issue with my Lenovo X1 Yoga 5th Gen laptop related to the BIOS supervisor password. I'm seeking assistance and guidance from the knowledgeable members of this community in resolving this problem.

I am no expert and cannot perform soldering or unsoldering of the chip from the board. Therefore, I attempted to use an EZP 2023 programmer with a clip to extract the BIOS bin file without removing the BIOS chip from the motherboard. The BIOS chip has the following letters imprinted on it: "Winbond 25Q80DVNIG 2026". I used the...
