• Oh crap! Thanks for the heads up Flea. Of all the suffixes I tried, none that you suggested was attempted. Either way, I got the BIOS file I found on here wiped the pw and also revived another unit that would not post properly....

  • Thanks for any help that would have come my way. However, I found a BIOS image that worked and bypassed the password. So I guess it was stored in the BIOS after all. Learn something new everyday.

I removed my dump so not to gunk up the forum server with unnecessary files....

  • Now before you send me links to the password generator as I have tried both on https://www.biosbug.com/dell/ and https://beta.bios-pw.org/ as they both spit out the same Result CODE to enter in order to override the password, it does not work with this unit whether it is just hitting enter or CTRL and Enter. Still says wrong password entered.

I did try to flash with other E7470 clean ME files I found on the forums here, but while some got passed POST, it still has the password intact to override.

I'm curious, is the password even on the BIOS chip...

  • Help with part for Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 3

I had a customer do a number on one of the USB-C ports enough that they pushed it in on the board. It crushed and looks like shorted one of the capacitors (C3402 on the board diagram).

Some pads will have to be redone as some ripped too along with a new USB port.

However, my biggest deal is locating the capacitor replacement part.

On the board diagram it lists it as SC1U25V2KX-2-GP, but I can't find it in a online search. All I get is other board diagrams that have the same part. And yes, I'm a noob enough that I can't decode the part number or manufacture...

  • Re: Help with Lenovo P52_20MA BIOS

Good to know. The ME region would make sense as I tried the file on another unit that was exact as the first one and it worked on it as well. Feel better for not having to ask for help on the other two units. Replacing the BIOS region is a little higher expertise I don't have yet not to mention the proper software.

However, now that you mentioned what you did, I guess the windows key will carry to the other laptop too, both activated so it wont matter.

Funny thing is both laptops in BIOS report the...

    Hardware1, you are a wizard!!!

I'm assuming this BIOS you shared was just a clean ME version you had archived without repairing the file I had? Just trying to learn, not just expect someone else to always fix it for me.

If so, it worked that's all that matters. However, I was just curious to know what the hell happened to the original BIOS during the update and what was damaged.

Either way, thank you very much....

    Help with Lenovo P52_20MA BIOS

I've been refurbishing some P52 laptops and performed a BIOS update to which after it was completed, somehow created a POST loop (system configuration change Rebooting). Can't get into BIOS Settings or boot menu. It allows me to select them but just reboots.

I have backed up the BIOS image, and tried some clean ME bios files from here hoping I would get some life back into it. No luck.

I've tried to compare files with HEX editors and yeah it sees many differences but not sure what I am looking for.

Can some wizard help here? If you can fix one file...

  • Re: Acer TPM658-M-58X3 BIOS unlock

Thank you very much! Worked like a charm.

I had a look with a hex comparator and found the edit with it and the address location. I would have never have found it on my own. I'll keep this in mind if I happen to run into this issue again with this model.

    Acer TPM658-M-58X3 BIOS unlock

I guess this laptop is under the new algorithm for the 8 digit key unlock. I've tried both websites (https://www.biosbug.com/acer/ and https://bios-pw.org/) with no luck.

Here is the BIOS backup file. I hope someone can clean the password off of it.
I tried looking through UEFItool and hexeditor with no luck finding it.

Even if someone has the new algorithm unlocker by chance. The code I got was 51290853.

Thanks in advanced.https://I guess this laptop is under... both websites...

  • Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Has anyone had any issues with Python recently? I went to patch a file and for some reason python just kicks out immediately when attempting the patch. It worked perfectly fine before, but I'm wondering if Windows updates pooched something on me.

I'll continue to work on it, but just was wondering if it's just me (waiting for sarcastic remarks ;p )

    Eserv,

I left my laptop on since I requested a response code 10 days ago. Could you help? I haven't bothered to get the paid service yet as I thought you disappeared but then noticed you replying here once and a while again.

Not a big deal, was hoping I wouldn't have to pay someone else to unlock but understandable.

  • Re: Dell Optiplex 3060

Yeah I checked that. It was enabled but not activated. I disabled nonetheless however still greeted with this when you try to enter into Windows 10 from a fresh install. It only happens with connected to the internet, so it must be associated with the OEM key. Btw this is from a x1 carbon with the same issue.

Normally we would attempt to contact the former owners, but most just don't know what the hell we are talking about or they just tell us too bad....

    Dell Optiplex 3060 bios

I work for a Laptop/Desktop refurbishing company. We just came across a bunch of Optiplex 3060's that when Windows is installed, it will pop up with the original owner company if connected to the internet. This renders us from being able to resell them again.

I thought about it might be the Dell bios, but that doesn't make sense for it to be able to make windows do this. So I'm guessing it is the embedded windows key to call Microsoft home and the original ownership with this key is then somehow overides the activation to show their company name and property of etc.

  • Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Thank you very much. What I found out after replacing the crappy test clip with a better one was the problem with my patched.bin. It flashed perfectly. Then I thought I screwed things up after flashing the original BIOS back on as it wasn't properly powering on. Well the adapter I had was crappy as well. Such a chore to figure out your own crappy parts sitting around.

End result was a pass for no more lock! Thanks to the forum!!...

  • Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Hi folks. I've read the post and how to do the autopatcher steps. New to this so learning rather quickly.

I ran into a roadblock however. I managed to get a good bios.bin from the T570 and patched it. Python 3 is used and everything reports completed. When I flash the patched .bin it continuously comes up with errors when verifying/writing. Usually at the same spot. While the test clip I have is crappy, I did manage to flash back the original BIOS with ASprogrammer just fine so I know the clip is attached...
