    840 g3

    Hi guys,

i got a computer from a public auction and this one asks me for a company email address when i try to install windows 10 pro, nothing to do with a normal windows 10 install.
So i think that this pc was linked to the company in the event of theft and that this security is integrated into the bios? can we delete it if this is the case?

For information this computer is not stolen, i have a purchase invoice

All security defaut restored, all partition erased, same thing i think HP serial number is registred by the old company or something else.

I admit that here I am a little lost

I found, the serial number is registred in old company with Microsoft Azure.

This is why during a reinstallation and once connected to the internet the pc requests a connection to a company account.

So nothing to do with the bios.

This is what i would call an autopilot lock.
They company were this unit is registered to is using Azure/autopilot to configure the device.

It's not only bound by serialnumber but also the HardWare Hash.

Best option for you is to do a fresh install while not connected to the internet, go through the initial setup until you see the desktop and than you can connect to internet.
this prevents the pickup of the Azure Profile and you can use the laptop like normal.

Im wondering if changing the system serialnumber will also prevent the pickup of the Azure profile. i Have a couple of units with this problem laying around. Does anybody have instructions how to change serial numbers in HP laptops?
