Hello,
I also have a HP 840 G5 which powers on, Caps Lock blinks 5 times, then fan goes into fast mode
Everything looks OK, all voltages are there except VCore (the regulator responsible for VCore doesn't get configured via SVID).
S/N: 5CG8322JTC
Thanks!

Thanks! I actually learned to rebuild the BIOS image by myself in the meantime. There was a problem with ME region. Bad checksum and structure was even detected by MEAnalyzer.
The notebook works fine with my rebuilt image. Thanks anyway!
On first start it actually behaved the same (caps lock flashes, fast fan) but after that the fan stopped and the system started to boot. So if anyone is facing the same issue and trying the repaired bios, be patient on first start after flashing new image.Comment

Hi,
I'm having the same problems as many others where the laptop fails to boot. Is it possible to clean the bios?
Also, ME Analyzer reports Error: Detected CSE Extension 0x03 with wrong Partition Hash at FTPR > FTPR.man! on this file.
Thanks .S/N:5CG9256VP8Attached FilesPremium supporters get full download access and other benefits.

Hi,
I did the same process (replacing the ME region with clean one) as I did in my case. However, I could not find the exact same version of the ME that you have in your BIOS image. So I used the same version that worked for mine.
Your version: 11.8.94.4494
I used: 11.8.95.4551
So don't be mad if the laptop self-destructs after booting with my rebuilt image
The ME Analyzer error is fixed with my rebuilt image. My error was exactly the same...

by WutruHi guys,
If someone would be able to provide some expertise, I'd be very grateful.
BIOS Corruption - Cause
So I managed to corrupt my machine by installing linux and enrolling custom secure boot keys. I did choose to enroll the Microsoft keys as well, to prevent any potential bricking due to 3rd party drivers from HP being signed with those keys.
After doing that, and rebooting(it did boot, powerLED, fanspin etc.), the laptop did not give any video output on the LCD or video connectors. I think I was able to get in BIOS and trigger the beeper by pressing ESC....-

by STKR123Greetings badcaps community,
I havent done this for a long time and want to start it all again, after some evil and annyoing illness.
So I apologize in advance, if some phrases might sound a bit like gibberish or illogical to you.
Im trying my best to fully describe what I plan to achieve and hope I was choosing the right sub-forum for my new adventure.
I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.
These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.
I learned that desoldering...10-29-2024, 06:03 AM -
by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

by wrinexHi i received a HP elitebook G6 that had a The HP Endpoint Security Controller error when booted but 3 enters later you could use it in windows, i thought maybe a bios update helps...... i used the HP tool (it did not want to update from device manager,,, someting i did not even knew worked) after the update it bricked the laptop.
i get 7 blinks on the capslock and thats it. i desoldered the chips front and back. and made a dump. i tried one bios posted here for the 16M and the 32Mb bios.. but it would not turn on or give an error code. so now i reflashed it back in its failed state...-

by cr4zychrissHello everyone,
I am requesting urgent assistance to unbrick my laptop, a rebranded TongFang GK7MRFR chassis. The laptop is completely dead following a faulty in-OS EC flash attempt.
I have successfully used a CH341A programmer and can read/write/verify both flash chips, but using my backups/extractions has failed to restore power. The root cause is likely a corrupted Intel Management Engine (ME) region or an incompatible EC/BIOS pairing. System & Hardware Details- Barebone / Chassis: TongFang GK7MRFR
