Thanks @dycc. I wish had been more patient. I tried, as suggested, with a patched dump for a similar machine to mine posted earlier on this thread. It went through the usual procedure (asking for hardware id, press space twice etc, but with the difference that at one stage, a strange character appeared on the screen that had never happened with any other machine I have patched with autopatch. Other than that strange character, everything looked normal and it *appeared* to have worked. Sadly, the board no longer starts. I have restored the original bios (known to be a 100% good dump), but it's no longer responding following the attempted patch. All voltages are good, everything looks good, but no start. I will try with the patched bioses you kindly made specifically for me and see what happens.. Thanks.

Re: THINKPAD L390 password
What you mean by without success? is the patched file not created, or the whole method failed?
Here's your patched file using autopatcher (0.2).Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

STEP 3: Press ENTER/F1/etc. to enter BIOS settings
STEP 4: Enter any character when asked for Supervisor Password
STEP 5: Press enter when it shows Hardware ID
STEP 6: Press space bar 2x when asked
STEP 7: Turn off machine

STEP 9: Reset BIOS settings to factory defaultLast edited by dycc; 11-25-2022, 06:27 PM.Comment

Re: THINKPAD L390 password
Hello,
I use autopatch to generate patched bios but my laptop just makes beep sound "011028" and screen stays black without startup. So I flashed original bios back, then my laptop starts booting with password lock. Could help me how to patch my bios file for remove password?

Re: THINKPAD L390 password
Never mind. I figured it out and unlock the supervisor password. In my case, autopatcher just replaces 2 dxe in bios but it doesn't patch evsa region. So I copied EfiSystemNvDataFvGuid part from dycc's patched file and pasted to my autopatcher patched bios on HeX editor. Then I flashed and rebooted, then Success!!! Thank you so much for your great job. You guys are genius!!!Comment

by badzymandiazI have a laptop that was purchased second-hand, and I am able to boot Windows on and extract the BIOS dump (ONLY the BIOS region, I was unable to dump anything else due to an FCERR I received trying to dump the other regions) and use normally. However, because the BIOS is locked with a supervisor password, I am unable to use anything else except for Windows, and it has also disabled some hardware features of the laptop itself, such as the fingerprinting module, etc. that I really do wish to use.
I have been digging around for nearly 2 weeks trying to find any mention of the same model...-
