Re: macbook air user password
I copied from https://www.cnet.com/how-to/locked-o...o-get-back-in/. You let try it if you forget user password.
Use Recovery Mode to reset your password
With your Mac turned off, press and hold the Command and R keys on your keyboard, then press the power button. Hold in Command+R until you see a progress bar show up below the Apple logo.
With your Mac now in Recovery Mode, click on Utilities in the menu bar followed by Terminal. A new window will show up, waiting for you to enter a command. Type "resetpassword" as one word, without the quotes, and press Return.
Close the Terminal window, where you will then find the Reset Password tool. A list of all user accounts on your Mac will be on display. To reset the password for your account, you'll need to set a new password for all users. Make sure you write down the new password for anyone who shares your Mac.Comment

by volinakisSo ... MacBook Air M1 A2337, entered in Recovery, connected to net, open Terminal -resetpassword, asked to deactivate Mac, deactivated then I was able to set another password. After restart, it asked to activate Mac by selecting admin user and type password but typing new password it doesn't work.
I know I can erase Mac and reinstall but client wants to save some files - I know him, is his own laptop brought from shop, he has invoice and all, Apple client service says it can't be done if he didn't save files in iCloud.
Any help will be much appreciated, thank you!

Received it & all worked fine till I got to the Chinese login screen where the login screen password tobe entered. I tried to reset the password but it again gave me options which I do not know about the Apple ID. I formatted the onboard SSD. & wanted to change the startup boot sequence but in order to change it, again the password is needed for that too. Is there a way to get rid of this password?? The seller has not replied back past 2 days, how...05-13-2025, 04:16 PM
