Check for resistance to gnd on 3 and 5v coil to begin with. 0V at kbc means probably your 3v rail is shorted somewhere. Can be 'coz of KBC but there can be "N" number of reasons for 3v rail to pulled down.

Re: Lenovo L560 - bios PWD

        Hi,

Yes, but the thing here is that the 2 laptops I flashed with the PWD clear dump, they both behave the same way.

        No power at all.
In one of them I rolled back to original dump, and still the same.

So its weird as I have the same problem with both. No power after bios programming.

Im sure the 3v line is not shorted, as the diode mode measurements showed in BIOS chip IC pins.

I will do some checks when Im at the office.

          which programmer do you use?
Do you use a clip or desolder the chip?

I made the observation that sometimes (with clip) some bytes aren't written correctly.
I mainly used SkyPro II ... and from time to time TL866 II (should be better, but can't be used with clip)

Try desolder the bios chip and check whats happen in this state and repgramm the chip with your old bios dump.

I may be wrong, but customers have reported that some Lenovo ThinkPad models need bottom cover to be installed, otherwise bios chip won't get +3.3V... worth a try.

Well finally back to these machines.
I have 2 working L650 with bios locked.
The 3.3V are not coming up after I de soldered the bios, re programmed with the dump posted here, and soldered it back.
Since then machine is dead. No reaction at all. I can confirm the 3.3V are not present in pin 8 of the bios.

I use a SP8-a programmer with the 8 pin adapter for the bios.
              Used directly on the programmer.

I can confirm there is no damage on the bios pads or surrounding area/components.

I did the same thing to a second L560. Same result. machine dead since then. Very weird...

Ive measured the Bios pins in diode mode of a working and a non working L560.
I can see considerable differences in certain pins.

pin working L560 L560 KO L560 KO without
              bios chip
              1 .693 .654 .586
              2 .560 .544 .542

              7 .727 .598 .626
              8 .357 .363 .360

But even seeing this, this wont justify the 3.3V to not be present AFAIK...

Seeing this, what would you more experienced guys do?
              Thanks for any inputs

                wow
And they are completely right...theres a little switch on the board that the cover push on when in place... some reset signal that prevents 3.3V on the board.

So just need to put some tape on it and I have 3.3V on the bios, and both laptops booting up, still with Bios PWD.

I feel like a donkey right now

Has anyone been able to unlock/reprogram one L560 with bios PWD

Ive reprogrammed BIOS, KBC and still have bios locked

When the PC boots up the first time after bios flash I get this error

0183: Bad CRC of Security Settings in EFI Variable.

Could it be the security chip preventing the unlock??

                  Jeezz what a nightmare

I usually use this method in ThinkPad, try it too.

Hey, I checked your bios. Unfortunately, fan, high speed and dark screen, I have a clean ec. and factory bios but unfortunately tpm remains MFG mode and error 189 uuid error. at the original bios tpm is normal, so it probably remains to read the original password from the bios file. Any ideas?

Uploaded clean Bios, clean EC, replaced TPM. There is no password but there are errors and tpm is in MFG mode. I play bios with password, TPM is normal still error 189, but asks for generating uuid, but this I can not do because bios the default is in the uefi mode, do you know where else the password can be stored?you mean Maintenance Diskette

                                            Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                            Hello there.

I am working on a Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 desktop that currently has a corrupt BIOS and I have been unsuccessful thus far in trying to fix it myself.

                                            History:

                                            1. This computer came to me initially with an error message that said "BiInitializeLibrary failed 0xc0000001" or "0135 fan error". It would always be one of the two errors. It should be noted that when it produced the fan error, there was no physical problem with the fans. They were all spinning just fine.

I searched for this error online and discovered...

So a couple of years ago i got a bios update through Lenovo Vantage, so i installed it and bricked my whole BIOS, so i couldn't fix it so i put that ideapad in a box, 3 years later i found that one PC and want to recover it to switch from a 2014 hp laptop to this one.

I found a method to recover the BIOS of many lenovo laptops tha consists in pluging in a USB Flash with the BIOS files and power on the laptop with Fn + R keys pressed until fans go loud and start beeping loud, but nothing worked, so i think filename is wrong, i tried naming the bios file as 07WW.BIN, BIOS.BIN, BIOS.fd,...

                                            Hello everyone,

                                            First, the data in brief:

                                            Model: ThinkPad L15 G3 21C3-0016GE
                                            motherboard: LG4 LT5 ADL RT UMA MB 8L - 448.0PZ26.0011

So far I've been a silent reader, but now I need your help

I bought a laptop. The seller said the bios was locked. I was looking for a way to remove this ban.
I then got the CH341A and pulled the corresponding files from here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...evices-and-ele...
The laptop was brought in with a BIOS problem and a password. After reading the dump, the information was damaged. I ask for help in the BIOS with a clean ME region. Motherboard 213035-1. Serial number: PW+04e998, Type number: 21c3-0016ge
